‘Darpan’ is one of the rituals in Deity’s worship in the temples wherein a mirror is shown to the Deity or sun rays are reflected from the mirror to the Deity. For this purpose, Kerala has a tradition of using characteristic mirrors made of metal.
The temple of Shri Kamakhya devi is situated 10 kilometres from Guwahati on the Nilachal mountain. The place where her yoni (genitals) fell is called ‘Kamakhya’. Kamakhya is renowned as the supreme seat of Tantra on the entire earth and is an important peeth amongst the 51 shaktipeethas.
Once Maharshi Pippalad asked Sage Narad, “Because of which deeds did I have to face such hardships? Even at such a tender age, why do I have to face such adversities due to the planets? Where are my parents?”
There are multiple carvings on the walls of compound of the temple. The left and right sides of the main entrance bear carvings of scenes of war. It contains the scenes of war between Khmer (Cambodian) and Champa (Vietnamese) soldiers.
‘Bayon’ means ‘Enlightenment’. Buddha is said to have attained enlightenment under the Banyan tree on the 49th day. Therefore this temple bears 49 faces of Buddha.
The famous Ta Prohm temple is located on the eastern side of the Angkor Thom temple premises. It is said that this temple was built at the end of 12th century by King Jayavarman VII for his mother.
In the 10th century, King Rajendravarman II ruled Yashodharpura. He gave away a huge piece of land to his 2 ministers who established a town named ‘Ishwarpur’ there. It is now known as Phnom Dei village, Cambodia. In the center of the town they built a temple ‘Tribhuvan Maheshwar’ or ‘Banteay Srei’.
‘The Shyam desh of the olden days is Thailand of today. Several Hindu and Buddhist kings have ruled this land. Its culture was based on Hindu Dharma, but with passage of time due to cultural invasions of the Buddhists Buddhism became prevalent here.
The Batu mountain range is situated 16 kilometres from Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malyasia. This cave made up of limestone found in this mountain according to scientists is 40 crore years old. 272 steps lead to this huge cave. After walking a distance of 100 meters in the cave is the temple of Kartikeya.
Water is our lifeline. It has its own specific memory. The thought occurring in our mind or the state of our mind while drinking water has deep impact on the water and consequently ouselves. Changes occur in water based on the external energies and these changes affect our physical body.
