Our soul is a fraction of God. The mind works to unite our jiva (Embodied soul) with our soul. Since the mind can assist us in uniting the jiva with Shiv, it is important.
The average seekers experience that their efforts in vyashti and samashti sadhana progress satisfactorily. However, all of a sudden, these efforts slacken. The reasons for the slackening may not be comprehended at that time. After this, the seeker does not feel like making any further efforts to perform sadhana. This gets repeated the next day, and when several such days pass, negative thoughts start increasing.
One may ask, why in this age of scientific research and progress, are we ignoring the modern physical sciences and going in the supposedly reverse direction to the study of the science of Spirituality? According to the saying ‘Old is gold’, to make spiritual progress it is the eternal science of Spirituality alone and not modern physical sciences which is useful.
Every living being, from the smallest insect to the more evolved human being wishes to acquire supreme quality of happiness continuously and constantly. Every moment he makes attempts to acquire it. Happiness which is everlasting and of supreme quality is called Ānand. The science which teaches how to acquire Ānand is termed, ‘the science of Spirituality’.

What are various types of happiness and It is because there is a lot of happiness in heaven that when there is a great amount of happiness on the earth, it is termed as heavenly. However one does not experience Bliss in heaven.
One should generally not speak on a subject of which one does not have adequate knowledge. Despite this rule several prominent personalities from other fields in society talk on Spirituality even when they have had no spiritual experiences.
The physical sciences cannot explain how to attain Bliss (Anand) which only the science of Spirituality can. It is only the science of Spirituality which teaches one to observe the problems in day-to-day life with the stance of a spectator and attain Bliss.
