Spiritual research on the miraculous changes in the face image of Suryadev

Article also available in :

Sachchidananda Parabrahman (Dr.) Athavale (Gurudev) resides in His room at the Ramnathi Ashram in Goa and no longer travels outside due to advanced age. While remaining in His room, He continues His writing work without interruption. Here, God began teaching Him an entirely new aspect of Spiritual Science.

For some time, He noticed positive, Divine changes occurring in the pictures and murtis of the Deities in His devghar, the small household shrine in His room. Spiritual science has never documented such phenomena before. God not only revealed these transformations to Him, but also explained the spiritual science behind them through seekers blessed with the capacity to receive subtle knowledge.

Several Deity images in His devghar have shown these changes. This study focuses on the first one: the sanctified, metal-cast face-image of Suryadev (the Sun Deity). We will share accounts of other Deity images in future articles using this same method. As these changes unfolded daily, He photographed and filmed the image so future seekers could study them.

God reveals these Divine changes not for Gurudev’s sake alone, but to help everyone understand this profound branch of Spiritual Science. Sharing this knowledge forms a vital part of samashti sadhana (spiritual practice for the spread of Dharma), which is why we are publishing this account.

What follows is an analysis of the changes observed in the Suryadev image from 2008 to the present. May readers deepen their faith and devotion toward God by understanding the spiritual science behind these changes.

1. Origin of the sanctified Suryadev image

Yogatadnya P.P. Dadaji Vaishampayan

This image arrived in Gurudev’s room for a specific spiritual purpose. Its origin links directly to Yogatadnya P.P. Dadaji Vaishampayan. Around this time, He performed numerous anushthans (spiritual rituals) and continuous japa-tapa (chanting and austerities) for four specific goals:

  • Averting Gurudev’s mahamrityuyoga (a life-threatening astrological phase)
  • Protecting Sanatan Sanstha’s seekers from attacks by negative energies
  • Shielding the mission from crises of every kind
  • Clearing obstacles hindering the establishment of the Ishwariya Rajya (Hindu Rashtra)

Alongside these rituals, He prescribed various spiritual remedies. One vital remedy was gifting a sanctified, metal-cast face-image of Suryadev for installation at the Sanatan Ashram in Ramnathi, Goa.

In July 2008, seekers placed the first image in the devghar inside Gurudev’s room for this protective purpose. Nearly six years later, in April 2014, Dadaji Vaishampayan gifted a second Suryadev image for the same reason. Seekers installed this second image in the Kalamandir (the ashram’s studio) at Ramnathi.

This chronicle documents the spiritual changes observed in the first image kept in Gurudev’s room.

2. The chronicle of Divine transformations

Experience it yourself: Before reading further, look at the photograph above. What kind of expression do you see on the face, is it solemn, gentle, or something else? Keep that impression in mind as you read ahead.

The devghar stands directly in front of Gurudev’s bed, slightly to the right. Because He spends most of His time resting, reading, and writing in bed, His eyes naturally rest on the shrine throughout the day. Through this routine viewing, He first noticed the image changing.

Once He recognised this Divine phenomenon, He began observing it deliberately. He recorded His subtle perceptions and verified them with seekers, confirming they experienced the exact same phenomena. He describes these events as Divine, grace-bestowing (kripa-swarup) changes.

Starting on 29 August 2021, these changes appeared in progressive stages:

2 A. Changes in Facial Expression

From 2008 until 28 August 2021, Suryadev’s face in this image appeared marak (fierce/destroyer in nature) and grave. On 29 August 2021, a profound shift occurred: the face began radiating joy, the fierce expression dissolved completely. Looking at the image brought immediate joy, a quality that increased steadily over time.

  • 1 June 2026: Looking at the face from any angle transmitted pure Divine love (prem). This was especially remarkable because we usually recognise Suryadev’s form as fierce (marak) and raja-predominant, rather than gentle and loving.
  • Childlike Innocence: Around this time, the expression took on striking innocence. On 1 June 2026, the face resembled that of an infant whom one naturally felt drawn to hold. By 5 June 2026, the smile mirrored that of a young child.
  • 13 April 2026: Looking at the Divine face brought Gurudev such intense Bliss that He broke into a spontaneous smile matching Suryadev’s expression.
  • 19 June 2026 (Doctrinal Insight): “An ordinary person feels joy when something pleasing happens. However, God exists eternally in the absolute state of Sat-Chit-Anand (Truth, Consciousness, Bliss). Therefore, looking upon Him at any moment brings only pure Bliss.”
  • 28 June 2026: Prior to this, Gurudev observed the Bliss radiating from Suryadev’s countenance, and after this He was able to experience it too.
  • 30 June 2026: Gazing at the face caused Gurudev to join His hands spontaneously in namaskar.
  • 12 June 2026: The radiant love and smile emanating from the face created a constant desire to gaze upon it, far surpassing any joy derived from looking at a joyful human face. Furthermore, the Divine expression shifted dynamically depending on Gurudev’s state – whether He simply looked, offered namaskar, prayed, or chanted.
Gurudev paying obeisance to the image of Suryadev

Experience it yourself: Look at the eyes in the photograph again. Do they feel directed at you, past you, or somewhere else entirely? Notice your impression before reading what Gurudev recorded.

2 B. Shifts in the gaze

  • Prior to 7 March 2022: Suryadev’s gaze looked upward.
  • 7 March 2022: The gaze shifted: Suryadev looked directly at the viewer with His right eye, while His left eye remained directed upward.
  • 3 March 2024: The gaze took on intimacy and love, as though Suryadev looked upon a close family member.
  • 2 June 2025: The gaze turned into the loving look of a Deity gracing His devotee.
  • 9 June 2026: When viewing Suryadev from different angles, the outer ring of solar rays stayed stationary, but the face and eyes turned dynamically toward the observer.
  • 12 June 2026: Moving from side to side confirmed that Suryadev’s gaze, and at times His entire face, turned to follow the movement.
  • 26 June 2026: Gurudev confirmed that Suryadev actively focuses His sight on whoever stands before Him. While a superficial glance suggests the eyes look straight ahead, steady subtle observation reveals that His gaze aligns directly with the observer.
29 August 2021 Extending His hand toward the image, Gurudev felt powerful positive vibrations and a distinct lightness in His hand. Looking into Suryadev’s eyes immediately awakened His bhav (spiritual emotion).

Experience it yourself: Rather than glancing, gaze steadily at the photograph for a full minute. Notice whether anything about the eyes shifts. Then read the recorded observations.

2 C. Blinking

  • 1 June 2026: Careful observation revealed dynamic eyelid movements: at times only the right eye blinked, at times only the left, and at times both blinked together across varying intervals.
  • 3 June 2026: Observing the eyes and lips simultaneously, Gurudev noticed the eyelids closing slowly every 15–20 seconds and reopening with identical gentleness.

Daily log of eyelid observations:

  • 8 June 2026: The eyes remained open, yet focusing on the lips and chin imparted the subtle perception that the eyes had closed.
  • 9 June 2026: The eyes appeared half-closed.
  • 12 June 2026: The eyes sometimes stayed open while projecting the deep stillness of meditative absorption (dhyanavastha).
  • 19 June 2026: The eyelids stayed closed for 4 – 5 seconds and opened for approximately one minute. When Gurudev closed and reopened His own eyes, He felt Suryadev’s eyes opening in unison. But any other seeker observing the image observed that the eyes remained open.
  • 20 June 2026: The right eye blinked 6 – 7 times within a single minute, while the left eye blinked only once.
  • 22 June 2026: The eyes remained closed for 2 seconds and open for 20–25 seconds per minute, maintaining this rhythm while there was no change in the rest of the countenance. Even when the smile widened, there was no affect on the blinking.
  • 26 June 2026: Both eyes began blinking in unison every 30 – 40 seconds.

Controlled chant experiment (night of 4 July 2026)

Gurudev performed a structured spiritual experiment by chanting “Shri Suryadevaya Namah” continuously before the image, recording the exact repetitions that triggered physical responses in the Deity’s eyes:

Chant Repetition Spiritual Phenomenon Observed
2nd chant Left eye blinked.
3rd chant Left eye blinked again.
14th chant Both eyes blinked simultaneously.
28th chant Gaze shifted from straight ahead to look directly at Gurudev with the left eye.
29th chant A noticeably broader smile appeared on the face.
33rd chant Both eyes closed for 2–3 seconds, then reopened.
64th chant Both eyes closed for 2–3 seconds, then reopened.
84th chant Both eyes closed for 2–3 seconds and reopened; this sequence repeated 4 times.
85th chant onwards The rate of blinking increased significantly.

Throughout this experiment, the eyelids never shut abruptly; they closed and opened with complete Divine gentleness.

Note : Gurudev had to end the experiment at this point due to fatigue.

Experience it yourself: Look steadily at the broad mouth framed by the moustache. Does the expression stay fixed, or do you perceive any movement?

2 D. Manifestation in the lips and oral expression

  • 23 May 2026: The lower lip appeared visibly descended slightly from its original cast position.
  • 1 June 2026: Focusing on the chin revealed the lower lip descending further, coinciding precisely with the slow closure of the eyelids. At subtle intervals, these movements revealed glimpses of the Deity’s teeth and tongue tip.

2 E. Aura and drawing of attention

  • 23 May 2026: Gurudev perceived a radiant, luminous aura encircling the face-image for the first time.
  • 19 June 2026 onwards: The intensified spiritual energy radiating from the image drew Gurudev’s attention magnetically. Even while reading spiritual texts, His reading ceased naturally whenever His eyes met the Deity’s gaze, drawing Him into Divine communion.

Experience it yourself

Look at the photograph with a smile, and focus your attention on the lips – do you perceive any change?

3. Subtle spiritual experiments conducted by Gurudev

Gurudev conducted deliberate spiritual experiments to document the interaction between a seeker’s consciousness and the Deity’s manifest form:

  • Experiment 1 (Smiling at the Divine lips): When Gurudev looked at Suryadev’s lips with a smile, the smile on the Deity’s face expanded almost instantaneously.
  • Experiment 2 (Expressive hierarchy of facial features): Studying the features individually revealed that the eyes project the highest intensity of spiritual change, followed in order by the lips, cheeks, chin, and forehead.

Gurudev’s own experiments

Experience it yourself

Breathe in slowly while looking at any wall in your room, then breathe the same way while looking at Suryadev’s nose in the photograph. Do you perceive any difference?

This is what Gurudev experienced –

  • Experiment 3 (Respiration and subtle energy): Breathing while facing a plain wall felt effortless. Focusing on Suryadev’s nose while breathing created a distinct sensation of subtle heaviness. Respiration while focusing on the forehead, cheeks, lips, or chin registered varying degrees of subtle pressure, though less intense than the nose.

Dynamic Interaction with Seekers: While Suryadev’s gaze rested constantly on Gurudev, whenever a seeker entered the room and looked at Suryadev, the Deity’s gaze turned momentarily toward that seeker before returning to Gurudev. Both Gurudev and the seeker experienced this shift simultaneously.

Compulsion to respond: While we usually return a smile when we come across someone, we may not speak to them immediately. However, one feels drawn to speak to Suryadev.

Response to Lighting: Altering directional electric lighting (towards the right, left and in front of Suryadev) in the room at night visibly interacted with the Divine expressions perceived on the sanctified metal surface.

2 G. Spiritual revelations manifested through chanting

Out of profound gratitude (Krutadnyata) toward Suryadev, Gurudev began chanting one mala (108 repetitions) of “Shri Suryadevaya Namaha |” daily from 4 June 2026. This practice revealed several Divine insights (sutras):

  • 2 June 2025: Chanting while focusing sequentially on the forehead, eyes, nose, lips, and chin revealed that concentrating on the chin caused the eyelids to open and close slowly, while the lower lip parted further.
  • 3 June 2025: Chanting while looking at the face brought an expanded smile to the Deity’s countenance, with Gurudev experiencing the Bliss.
  • 7 June 2026: Starting the daily mala amplified the smile and Bliss. Divine tears then seemed to appear, awakening bhav in everyone present.
  • 28 June 2026: Chanting before the Deity simultaneously transmitted heightened joy, a broader smile, and tearing in the eyes of both Suryadev and the seekers observing alongside Gurudev.

4. Corroborating Observations by the Sadgurus

Two Sadgurus of Sanatan Sanstha, independently conducted spiritual studies of the same Suryadev image.

4.A. Observations by Sadguru (Dr) Mukul Gadgil

Sadguru Dr Mukul Gadgil, Maharshi Adhyatma Vishwavidyalay
Sadguru (Dr) Mukul Gadgil

(Ph.D. Chemistry, Mumbai University)

  • 17 April 2022: The image, repainted a month earlier, initially appeared sombre. Within two weeks, a distinct smile manifested on the cheeks. This occurred because vibrations of Bliss (Anand) permeated the metal image. This Divine change originated from Gurudev Himself: because Gurudev resides permanently in the nirgun (unmanifest) state, the vibrations of Anand and Shanti within Him naturally softened the serious looking nature of the image. This proves that an exalted Saint’s spiritual stature transforms even inanimate objects in the vicinity.
  • 11 June 2026 (Subtle Readings):
  • Sagun (manifest) principle: 35% (compared to 4% in ordinary murtis).
  • The face radiates joy; the cheeks visibly rounded into a smile.
  • The eyes projected Divine love (Priti).
  • Tarak (saviour/protective) quality: 90% (compared to 10% in ordinary murtis).
  • Subtle eyelid blinking occurred at 32 blinks per minute, with the right eye blinking more frequently.
  • The entire face, including the nose, turned toward the observer viewing from any position to the left or right.
  • Chanting “Shri Suryadevaya Namah” while viewing the image from forehead to the chin caused the lips to part in an active smile and the chin to move.
  • Chaitanya (Divine Consciousness) radiated outward through the flame-shaped rays framing the face.
  • The physical image felt remarkably light when held.
  • The active Surya-tattva (Sun Principle) reached 21% (compared to 2% in commercially available metal images).
  • 9 July 2026: The image emanated profound peace (Shanti) as Shakti (power) subsided into heightened Shanti and tarak energy. This increase in Shanti has resulted in the smile becoming more subdued. The active Surya-tattva increased from 21% (June 2026) to 24% (July 2026), infusing the metal image with dynamic aliveness (chaitanyamay presence), while Priti rose to 25% (July 2026) from 5% (June 2026).

4 B Observations by Sadguru Rajendra Shinde

Sadguru Rajendra Shinde
  • 11 June 2026: Looking upon Suryadev transmitted overwhelming waves of Bliss throughout my body. The face appeared luminous, content, and smiling, which kept drawing my eyes to it.
  • 27 June 2026: Krutadnyata bhav (gratitude) was present in the Deity’s eyes. I registered His eyes blinking at 34 blinks per minute (predominantly the right eye). Moving laterally,  Suryadev’s face turned dynamically to follow me. Chanting while moving my gaze from forehead to chin caused the Deity’s lips to part into a smile, steadily increasing both the Bliss in the image and the transmission of Bliss to me

4 C. Comparative study leading up to pournima (full moon)

On the Pournima of 29 June 2026, both Sadgurus tracked the subtle variations within the image over consecutive days:

Comparative Readings by Sadguru Dr. Mukul Gadgil

Subtle parameter 26 June 2026 27 June 2026 (2 days prior) 28 June 2026 (Eve of Pournima)
1. Smile High Slightly reduced Reduced; grave countenance
2. Blinking 32/min (Right eye only) 41/min (Right eye only) Meditative absorption (Note 1)
3. Sagun principle 35% 30% (Note 2) 19% (Note 2)
4. Marak principle 10% 13% (Note 2) 15% (Note 2)

Note 1: The eyes entering a meditative state indicates that Suryadev assumed a subtle, nirgun defensive posture to combat increasing negative energies in the atmosphere.

Note 2: As subtle negative forces surge around Pournima and Amavasya (new moon), Suryadev transitions from sagun to nirgun and activates His marak (destroyer) principle to neutralise environmental attacks.

Sadguru Rajendra Shinde’s observations

He observed this exact phenomenon: on 27 June 2026, the smile subsided while Shakti surged. When He sought clarification in the subtle, Gurudev revealed: “Suryadev’s Shakti activated to repel severe subtle attacks of negative energies. Because 29 June 2026 is Pournima, subtle negative attacks intensify starting two days prior. Hence, this shift occurred.”

5. The spiritual science behind the transformations

Gurudev asked seeker Ku. Madhura Bhosale (Spiritual Level in 2026 – 65%), who receives Divine subtle knowledge, to explain the spiritual doctrine behind what He and the Sadgurus observed:

5 A. The cosmic battle of the present era (Devasur sangram)

Since the year 2000, the universe has engaged in a fierce subtle war (Devasur Sangram) between the forces of Dharma and Adharma. The triumph of Dharma will culminate in the establishment of Ram Rajya (the Divine Kingdom of Righteousness). Suryadev is eagerly awaiting this, and is showering His Kripa (Grace) on the forces of Dharma.

Sachchidananda Parabrahman (Dr) Athavale (Gurudev) functions as a Samashti Mokshaguru and a partial incarnation (Ansha-avatar) of Bhagavan Shri Vishnu. Suryadev is experiencing the immense Priti of Gurudev and that is why the countenance of the image has turned soft and sattvik.

To shield Gurudev – whose subtle form is engaged in the subtle war – the Saptarshis continuously chant the sacred Surya Gayatri Mantra to raise an impenetrable Suryakavach (Solar Armour) around His physical and subtle bodies—directly parallel to Maharshi Agastya imparting the Aditya Hridaya Stotra to Bhagavan Shri Ram during the war with Ravana:

ॐ भास्कराय विद्महे, महद्द्युतिकराय धीमहि । तन्नो आदित्यः प्रचोदयात् ।

(Om Bhaskaraya Vidmahe, Mahaddyutikaraya Dhimahi, Tanno Adityah Prachodayat)

Gurudev is facing incessant subtle attacks from negative entities of the Patal Suryadev, which has reduced His vital energy (Pranshakti). Suryadev chants the Narayan Gayatri Mantra over Gurudev to awaken the dormant Vishnu-principle at the level of Tejtattva (Fire Principle) as an absolute spiritual remedy. As a result, sometimes Suryadev’s teeth or tip of the tongue are visible.

ॐ नारायणाय विद्महे। वासुदेवाय धीमहि । तन्नो विष्णुः प्रचोदयात् ।।

(Om Narayanaya Vidmahe, Vasudevaya Dhimahi, Tanno Vishnuh Prachodayat)

— Kum. Madhura Bhosale, Sanatan Ashram, Ramnathi, Goa

6. Subtle scientific research: Pendulum (Lolak) analysis

To evaluate the progression of subtle vibrations, six photographs of the image spanning April 2023 to July 2026 were studied using lolak pariksha (pendulum). This subtle research technique measures positive and negative energetic frequencies, vibrational categories, and the aura of positive energy (prabhaval) in metres. The Subtle analysis was carried out by Sadguru (Dr) Mukul Gadgil.

(Comparative Reference: The identical sanctified Suryadev image from the Ramnathi Kalamandir possessed 0% negative energy and an aura of 7,540 metres when examined in June 2026.)

6 A. Key analytical findings

  1. Exponential aura growth: Between April 2023 and July 2026, the positive energy aura expanded from 1,165 metres to 56,560 metres (56.5 km). Apart from this Bhav and Sagun tattva also increased. The last recorded growth in aura between June and July of 2026 is due to increase in Bhav, Shanti, Sagun and Tarak tattvas.
  2. Impact of the Saint’s presence: While the Kalamandir image and Gurudev’s image are cast from the same mould, the aura of Gurudev’s image reached 42,570 metres in June 2026 compared to 7,540 metres for the Kalamandir image. Due to Gurudev’s samashti mission, His room is charged with Bhav, Chaitanya and Anand, which affect every object in the room.
  3. Collective sadhana and Deity’s grace: Over the past 26 years, under Gurudev’s guidance, seekers striving for Ram Rajya have deepened their spiritual capacity, producing 133 Saints and over 1,000 seekers above the 60% spiritual level. This has attracted the Kripashirvad of Deities like Suryadev, which is evident from the expanding positive energy aura of the image in Gurudev’s room.
  4. Protective subtle magnets: Both sanctified images gifted by Yogatadnya P.P. Dadaji Vaishampayan act as spiritual magnets—drawing in environmental negative energies and incinerating them through the Tejtattva. Although Yogatadnya P.P. Dadaji Vaishampayan renounced His physical body on 20 May 2019 in Nashik, His nirgun, chaitanya-filled subtle presence eternally protects Gurudev, the Ashrams, and all seekers.

7. Subtle spiritual experiment with Saints and seekers

On 27 June 2026, Gurudev conducted a structured subtle experiment. Ten seekers and two Saints of Sanatan Sanstha, Pu. (Smt.) Mandakini Vijay Dagwar and Pu. Rekha Kankonkar, chanted “Shri Suryadevaya Namah” while observing the sacred image. Their independent spiritual perceptions were recorded:

How many experienced?

This experiment confirmed that the Divine transformations of the sacred image are tangible spiritual realities experienced independently by Saints and seekers alike.

8. Divine reflection

Gurudev concluded this sacred chronicle with a profound revelation:

“Ordinarily, a devotee must perform rigorous spiritual practice and worship before a Deity is pleased and grants the Divine vision of Its Sagun form, the devotee takes the first step, and God responds. In this instance, without any prior formal worship of Suryadev on my part, Divine experiences of His Sagun form have manifested continuously through this sacred image.

Usually, the devotee takes the initial step toward God. Here, we are witnessing the supreme grace of God taking the first step toward His devotee.”
