History of the Kashtabhanjan Hanuman temple in Sarangpur

Kashtabhanjan Hanuman temple at Sarangpur in Gujarat !

When Swami Gopalanand, Guru of the Swaminarayan sect in Gujarat came to Sarangpur village, he discovered that due to absence of rainfall for many years in that region, there was drought here. So, He prayed to Hanuman Deity and with inspiration from the God installed an idol of Hanuman Deity there. As Deity Hanuman relieved the distress, that temple was named ‘Kashtabhanjan Hanuman mandir’. During the installation ceremony when Swami Gopalanand touched the Hanuman idol with a silver stick, for a few seconds it appeared alive and grinned. The idol here exists in that very form.

History of Bhalaka Teerth at Verawal

Bhalaka Teerth is the Holy place with a Holy fig (peepal) tree beneath which Shrikrushna renounced His body in the Dwaparyug !

The village Verawal is situated at a distance of 10 kilometres from the Somanth jyotirlinga. After end of the Yadu dynasty and submerging of Dwarka city in the sea, ShriKrushna was sitting under a Peepal tree in the Verawal village. A hunter named ‘Jara’ presuming Shrikrushna’s foot to be a deer, struck it with an arrow. When he went close, he discovered that it was Shrikrushna’s Holy foot. So, out of repentance he sat there and cried his heart out.

When the hunter Jara discovered that he had struck Shrikrushna with an arrow he asked Shrikrushna for forgiveness. The above idols depict this scene.

When consoling Jara, Shrikrushna says, ‘In the Tretayug when I had incarnated as Shrirama you were Vali, the brother of Sugreeva. Shrirama annihilated Vali by striking him with an arrow. So, this is completion of the give-and-take account.’ Shrikrushna forgave Jara and then ended His mission as incarnation under that tree. Now this place is famous as Bhalaka Teerth (literally means the Holy place where the arrow struck).

Then sitting on the banks of the sea opposite the temple she offered prayers to the Sea for some time. That day Sadguru (Mrs.) Anjali Gadgil and the other seekers along with her on this tour stayed at Somnath.’
