5. Learn how exercise is beneficial to prevent or to cure Diabetes !

Let us take the example of a well to understand how exercising is beneficial in preventing or curing diabetes. From it’s underground natural springs, fresh water keeps filling the well, but one day it stops. Silt clogs the mouths of those springs.

Once the silt is cleared, the spring water flows freely again and the well gets filled with water again. Similarly, various fluids (secretions) percolate through our body. If for some reason they stop flowing then their absence is felt in the form of disease.

If sugar in the blood increases, it is because the secretion of insulin has reduced. This occurs due to blockages in the glands or its passages. This may occur because we don’t exercise, and the glands don’t get pressed and remain inactive. Why we don’t exercise ? Because we feel lazy to exercise.

Suppose you want to extract juice from a dried lemon, you have to rub it with your hands, squeeze it, and twist it. Similarly, we have to extract the juice called insulin from the organ called Pancreas in the body. In diabetes, when this insulin is not produced, one is expected to do something that will create movement in and pressure on this organ. Yogic postures like Mandukasana, Pawanmuktasana, Halasana, Sarvangasana, Bhujangasana, Mayurasana, Namanamudra, Kapalbhati etc. can exert external stress or pressure on the abdomen, especially the pancreas and liver. This increases the possibility of naturally producing good digestive juices from them. This is a very simple solution to avoid getting diabetes.

6. Do’s and Don’ts of Exercising

On an empty stomach, massage your body with oil in the morning and exercise. Nutrients absorbed in the blood are not consumed during night sleep. After waking up, the body feels heavy. It is necessary to exercise in the morning to properly digest and assimilate those components. Exercising during Hemant and Shishir seasons, i.e. during winter, generates heat which lasts throughout the day. As kapha is raging in the body even in spring, exercise during this period as well. Short exercise should be done in summer, spring and autumn. After exercise, rub the body in such a way that the body does not suffer.
