Importance of components in Ashtang sadhana in vyashti and samashti sadhana as narrated in Gurukrupayoga

From this table, the following aspects are understood.

1. Components in Ashtang sadhana (Eight-fold spiritual practice) are important for sadhana irrespective of whether it is vyashti sadhana (Individual spiritual practice) or samashti sadhana (Spiritual practice to spread Spirituality).

2. The exceptional importance of making efforts to eliminate personality defects is understood while performing vyashti or samashti sadhana. Many seekers of Sanatan perform samashti sadhana. Most seekers give priority to seva under samashti sadhana and secondary importance to efforts to eliminating personality defects. While implementing this process, seekers experience a conflict within. As a result, seekers feel that the process is boring. Even if a medicine tastes bitter, it has to be taken for good health. Similarly, whether the seeker likes the PDR process or not, it needs to be taken on priority.

3. Earlier the importance of components such as satsang, satseva, bhav and tyag in Gurukrupayoga was more. Now, the importance of these components has reduced, and that of components such as the elimination of personality defects and ego has increased. This is one example of how the importance of components in sadhana changes as per times. Due to personality defects and ego, the seeker’s mind gets corrupted. As a result, he does not get the expected benefit of Chaitanya (Divine consciousness) from sadhana irrespective of the amount of seva, sacrifice etc. he performs. Therefore, the seeker does not progress fast spiritually. Since their samashti is harmed due to personality defects, some seekers undergo decline in sadhana. The negative energies find it easy to cause distress to seekers by exploiting their corrupt minds. As a result, components such as ‘Elimination of personality defects’ and ‘Elimination of ego’ have gained importance as per times.

4. Many seekers of Sanatan regret not being able to stay in the Ashram for sadhana or cannot participate in samashti seva due to some difficulty. Such seekers should not feel like this because the importance of satsang and satseva in sadhana is only 16 %. Therefore, they should have faith that they can perform sadhana staying at home and progress significantly. Many seekers of Sanatan have crossed the spiritual level of 60% by performing sadhana at home.

5. The seekers responsible for seva should ensure that all seekers get enough time to implement the processes for ‘Elimination of personality defects’ and ‘Elimination of ego’ and intermittently review whether the process is being implemented appropriately by them.

Negative energy : Positive as well as negative energies are active in the environment. Positive energies assist humans in performing virtuous tasks, while negative energies cause distress. There are many stories in the Vedas and Puranas about demons creating obstacles in the Yadnyas (Sacrificial fires) of Sages and Ascetics in the ancient times. At many places in the Atharvaveda, mantras have been given to thwart demons, pishacha (Spirit of a deceased individual) etc.
