Live Demonstrations of Manipuri Thang-Ta, Shivaji-era Warfare, and the Epic “Afzal Khan Vadh”

New Delhi: The grand Sanatan Rashtra Shankhnad Mahotsav, jointly organized by Save Culture Save Bharat Foundation and Sanatan Sanstha at Bharat Mandapam, Delhi, presented a magnificent revival of ancient Indian martial traditions and the valor of the era of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The event kindled deep inspiration for bravery, patriotism, and self-defense among the audience.

The festival featured impressive demonstrations of the weaponry and combat techniques of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s time, along with a live presentation of the Manipuri traditional martial art of Thang-Ta (sword and spear combat). The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti also showcased practical illustrations of self-defense techniques for women against violence and oppression.

A major highlight of the evening was the thrilling live enactment of Afzal Khan Vadh. The performance vividly depicted how the strategic brilliance of the Shivaji era can be effectively adapted to counter modern-day terrorist threats. This powerful portrayal evoked enthusiasm, pride, and reverence for India’s martial legacy.

The Savyasachi Gurukulam from Kolhapur displayed a captivating fusion of Marathi martial traditions and Shivaji-era warfare techniques. Demonstrations of armed combat, personal and women’s self-defense, and coordinated group warfare kept the audience spellbound.

The program also included traditional wellness practices such as Surya Namaskar, Chandra Namaskar, Bhumi Namaskar, and ancient yogic exercises guided by sage traditions. These showcased the holistic Indian vision of balance between body, mind, and spirit.

Prominent dignitaries present included BJP National Spokesperson and MP Shri Sudhanshu Trivedi, Union Minister of State for Power Shri Shripad Naik, P. P. Shantigiri Maharaj, P. P. Pawan Sinha Guruji, National Guide of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (Dr.) Charudatta Pingale, and representatives of Sanatan Sanstha – Shri Satshakti (Mrs.) Binda Singbal and Shrichitshakti (Mrs.) Anjali Gadgil.
