Mumbai – Maharashtra Government has taken over the control of several renowned temples under the pretext of their alleged mismanagement. The Board of Trustees composed of devotees were dissolved in many temples. In such a situation, Shivshankar Patil, the Managing Trustee of Shegaon’s Shri Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan has set an ideal before all Hindus and temple-trustees by working diligently through the medium of devotees, maintaining excellent temple management and thereby creating an alternative for takeover of temple management by the government. His ideal should be followed by all temple trustees, appealed Sanatan Sanstha’s spokesperson Chetan Rajhans while paying homage to late Shivshankar Patil. Shri. Rajhans made this appeal through a press release published in this context.

It is further mentioned in this press release that, ‘From the very beginning Sanatan Sanstha has taken the stand that ‘the management of Hindu temples should be in the hands of devout devotees and not the secular government’. Trustee Shivshankar Patil of Shegaon’s Shri Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan has carried out his duties in line to this stand. Today, temple trustees, priests, ‘purohits’ and advocates not only from Maharashtra but from all over the country are coming together against the governments’ policy of Takeover of Temple Management. They are also exposing various scams and corrupt practices that are rampant in the temples managed by the government and fighting against them legally. Shivshankar Patil always helped Sanatan’s activities related to protection of Dharma. He had also extended valuable support in opposing the laws tabled by Maharashtra Government to takeover temples and the anti-Dharmik ‘Anti Superstition Law’.
