1. What is a ‘Gurupushyamrut yoga ?

When the pushya planet appears on a Thursday it is called ‘Gurupushyamrut yoga’. It is a custom to buy gold or to perform any auspicious act on this day. This yoga is considered auspicious for both spiritual or worldly missions. In one year there are approximately 3 to 4 such yogas.

2. The Gurupushyamrut yogas in 2021

This year will have 5 Gurupushyamrut yogas, the dates and duration as per the Bharatiya lunar calendar are given further.

A. Poush Pournima (28.1.2021) : From sunrise to 3.50 a.m.

B. Magh Shukla paksha 13 (25.2.2021) : From sunrise to 1.17 p.m.

C. Bhadrapad krushna paksha 9 (30.9.2021) : From 1.33 a.m. to the sunrise of the next day

D. Ashwin krushna paksha 7 (28.10.2021) : From 9.41 a.m. tos unrise of the next day

E. Kartik krushna paksha 6 (25.11.2021) : From sunrise to 6.49 p.m.

3. Special features of the Gurupushya yogas in 2021

A. As the Gurupushyamrut yoga of 30.9.2021 will start after sunset and end with the sunrise of the next day it will not be very beneficial.

B.In the Gurupushyamrut yogas which are due to occur this year the planet Jupiter will be in the house of Makar (Capricorn) (means the planet Jupiter planet is in the lower house). For buying gold, this yoga is not very conducive also there are chances of suffering from physical ailments and financial crunches.

All these ‘Gurupushyamrut yogas’ are conducive for spiritual practice because there are greater chances for spiritual distress when the planet Guru (Jupiter) is in Makar. Hence instead of buying gold during the reign of this planet one should make an attempt to perform maximum spiritual practice. To bring about fulfilment in life let us try to perform the eightfold spiritual practice in obedience of the Guru.’
