2000 lakh population in Bharat is affected by mental illness

  • It is indeed a matter of worry as such a major part of the population is affected by mental illness. It has been proven through many cases that eventually the only cure for mental illness is spiritual practice. 
  • This is the result of the Government not teaching society spiritual practice. Eventually a society which performs spiritual practice is mentally competent in the real sense.

New Delhi – One in every 7 individuals is affected with a major mental illness. The number of people affected by depression and anxiety is growing day-by-day. From 1990 to 2017, over 27 years, 19.7%, that is 2000 lakh of people have been affected with mental illness as revealed through a journal of the Lancet Society. This study was conducted in Bharat by ‘India State-Level Disease Burden Initiative’.

In a study published in this ‘Journal’ several  noteworthy points have been made, some of which are given further –

1. Of the affected individuals 406 lakh are affected by depression and 405 lakh by anxiety.

2. This study shows that the incidence of mental illness is higher in people who have crossed middle age. In fact the study points out that mental illness is the cause for suicide.
