Shri Suryanarayan – controller of life on the earth

In the Navagraha (nine planets) the Sun Deity is the chief Deity. Just as Shrivishnu controls the universe so also the Sun Deity controls the earth. Hence He is referred to as Suryanarayan. The Sauryag is worship of Shri Suryanarayan. This fire sacrifice is performed to prolong life by overcoming physical disorders of breathing, eyes and heart, to lead a healthy life and to receive grace of Suryanarayan.
