Rationalists and the common man often view Science and Spirituality as two completely distinct entities. However, Spirituality encompasses the comprehensive knowledge of the infinite and of all subjects. Therefore, a simple question arises: how could Science not be included within it? Ultimately, Science is but a branch of Spirituality.

1. The Branch of science on the tree of Knowledge
Why fight in vain by creating divisions? The branch of Science belongs to the tree of knowledge.
The following explanation reveals precisely why society developed this false divide. In addition, it demonstrates why this separation does not exist in reality.
A. Mankind enslaved by modern science-based technology
To begin with, the influence of modern science grew rapidly over the last two centuries. During this time, developers designed science-based technology specifically to maximise human comforts. Consequently, because human nature naturally craves material pleasure and consumerism, man quickly became a slave to this technology.
B. The false picture of ‘Science versus Sanatan Hindu Dharma’
As a result, human life today relies entirely on technology. Because of this dependency, science also influenced spiritually minded people in a highly unexpected way. Specifically, they mistakenly began to feel that science was their ultimate enemy.
Meanwhile, so-called social reformers started a loud, aggressive campaign. In particular, they demanded that people prove various aspects of Sanatan Hindu Dharma using modern scientific tests.
As a direct consequence, an inferiority complex grew within Hindu society. Indeed, people began to wonder whether science was superior to Dharma. Ultimately, this collective insecurity painted a completely false battleground of ‘Science versus Sanatan Hindu Dharma’.
C. Sanatan Hindu Dharma nurtures the true development of Science
On the contrary, the following examples clearly demonstrate a highly supportive relationship between the two fields:
1. Medicine
First, sages consider Ayurveda as the fifth Veda. Today, the entire world accepts its immense importance. Furthermore, India stands as the true birthplace of plastic surgery. For instance, in ancient times, Indian surgeons successfully reattached severed noses and ears. They even created dimples on women’s cheeks.
2. Mathematics
The concept of zero represents India’s unique gift to the world. Moreover, ancient Indian mathematicians created highly advanced numerical systems. Thanks to this, they easily counted massive numbers like Kharva (10¹⁰) and Nikharva (10¹¹).
3. Metallurgy
In addition, India possesses a famous ancient iron pillar. Remarkably, this unique pillar never rusts.
4. Astronomy
Similarly, Indian scriptures have accurately described numerous constellations and celestial bodies since ancient times.
5. Architecture and Sculpture
Furthermore, master craftsmen carved the famous Kailasa Temple at Ellora. Incredibly, they cut it out of a single rock from top to bottom.
6. Navigation
Finally, ancient Indian merchants routinely travelled by sea for trade. Consequently, their trade routes reached as far as Java and Sumatra, which people know today as Indonesia.
Could a culture that provides for such vast research and development ever oppose science?
When viewed philosophically, Sanatan Hindu Dharma divides knowledge into two distinct types: Parā Vidyā and Aparā Vidyā. Parā Vidyā means superior knowledge. Aparā Vidyā means inferior knowledge. Aparā Vidyā includes all the scientific fields mentioned above. If Sanatan Hindu Dharma opposed science, we would not see such extraordinary achievements in these various branches of knowledge. Sages would not have mastered these brilliant branches of knowledge. Despite these facts, modern society considers science supreme and views Spirituality as backward.
As science advances, mankind depends on it more and more. Consequently, suicide rate continues to rise alarmingly! — (Paratpar Guru) Dr Athavale (12.10.2014)
