Protest staged on behalf of Rashtriya Hindu Andolan at Mapusa (Goa) by several Hindu activist organisations

Protest against Carnival parade at Pedne

Mapusa, January 30, 2018 (news) – Under the banner of the Rashtriya Hindu Andolan, as part of the nationwide agitation, many Hindu activist organisations together staged a protest on January 28, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the main gate (where annual Ganapti pujan is held) of the Mapusa Municipal Market.

The demands put forth by them were

1. Cancel Carnival parade in Pedne.

2. Frame a law to control population explosion, for all, immediately.

3. Rehabilitate Kashmiri Hindus who are living as refugees and return their rightful homeland to them.

4. Reverse hike in railway and bus tickets in different states of Bharat where to commemorate Magh melava different Hindu festivals are celebrated.

The agitation commenced after blowing of the conch. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Sanatan Sanstha, Ranaragini Shakha, Gomantak Mandir ani Dharmik Sanstha Mahasangh, Hindu activists from Pednem, Dicholi, Mapusa, Sambhajinagar (Vasco) and Sakhli participated in the protest. Mrs. Rajashree Gadekar of the Ranaragini Shakha of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti explained the objectives of the protest on behalf of the Rashtriya Hindu Andolan. Then Mr. Tulshidas Ganjekar of Sanatan Sanstha presented the topic of rehabilitating Kashmiri Hindus,  to the audience. The topic of controlling population explosion was presented by Mr. Govind Chodankar. Mr. Jayesh Thali of Gomantak Mandir Mahasangh, a Hindu activist from Shirsai Mr. Satyawan Mhamal, a dedicated Hindu from Sambhajinagar Mr. Haresh Korgaonkar, a Hindu activist from Mapusa Mr. Uday Munj all apprised the public about the Carnival parade scheduled at Pedne and protested against it. Mr. Chandrakant (Bhai) Pandit of Gomantak Mandir Mahasangh was also part of the protest.

Mr. Satyawan Mhamal stated that he protested against holding a Carnival parade at Pedne on the auspicious day of Mahashivaratri. Mr. Haresh Korgaonkar said that all should protest against the Carnival Parade at Mandrem on February 13 as the government instead of protecting culture is destroying it resulting in deprivation of moral values to the younger generation and leading them towards materialism.
