Representation submitted by HJS and Sanatan Sanstha
Nagpur : There is an unauthorized slaughter-house named Mssrs. Sonankur Exports Pvt. Ltd at Mulegaon Tanda (Dist Solapur). It should be immediately closed down and in-depth investigations should be conducted into the concerned Government officers and the owners of the slaughter-house, criminal cases should be filed and stringent action should be taken against them. A representation to the above effect was submitted to Shiv Sena leader and State Environment Minister Ramdas Kadam by Shri. Abhay Vartak, the spokesperson of Sanatan Sanstha. Shri. Kadam promised him of taking necessary action after conducting inquiry. Shri. Arvind Pansare, Maharashtra spokesperson of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) and Shri. Shrikant Pisolkar, its Vidarbha Coordinator were also present on the occasion.
Similar representation was submitted to Shri. Vijaykumar Deshmukh, the Guardian Minister of Solapur District. He too promised to take action after inquiry. Mrs. Sonankur Exports Pvt Ltd. has been running a slaughterhouse in an unauthorized manner at Mulegaon Tanda in Solapur District since last ten years and many fake legal papers have been prepared by this company. It has violated all rules and regulations of National Pollution Control Board, water and air rules; so also several rules and regulations stipulated by Environment Department and Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) .
It has been stated in the representation that …
1. Permission for construction of this slaughter-house was not taken nor was any application made for the same by this company. Moreover, it has obtained a fake NOC and on that basis, various permissions in connection with the slaughter-house and to export meat have been obtained from Government offices at Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Solapur. NOC from Zilha Parishada has not been obtained; nor has permission been obtained from the Government under Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966.
2. NOC granted by Gram-Panchayat to this slaughter-house has been cancelled due to many adverse effects; besides, there is a serious finding of Solapur District Health Laboratory that water in this area is not potable.
3.Retired Judge Chandrashekhar Dharmadhikari, the Chairman of the Committee appointed by Mumbai High Court has informed MPCB that fake papers have been prepared by misrepresenting facts in the permission letter of MPCB and it has violated rules by using permission for cold storage of fruits, for the slaughter-house; thus cheating the Government.
4. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the slaughter-house should be held responsible for the deterioration of environment and public health in this area, cases should be filed against the slaughter-house; compensations should be recovered from it and the concerned dy. Regional officer of MPCB should be suspended.
