Nagpur : The Government should own up responsibility of malpractices in managing temples such as Shri Mahalakshmi Mandir, Shri Tulajabhavani Mandir, Vitthal-Rukmini Mandir of Pandharpur so also in other temples and all corrupt Government Devasthan committees should be dissolved; Administrator should be appointed on ‘Maharashtra Andha-shraddha Nirmulan Samiti (MANS)’ for its involvement in financial scam worth millions of rupees were the two main demands made by pro-Hindu organizations on 13th December during demonstrations held near Vidhan Bhavan and amidst raising of slogans. Views expressed by ‘Hindutvavadis’

MLA Prakash Abitkar said, “I extend support to this campaign. I am happy that even at Nagpur, so spontaneous demonstrations are staged against Devasthan Samiti’s corruption. We met the Chief Minister and made him aware of scams committed by Shri Mahalakshmi Mandir managed under PMDS. He had promised during the issue raised in Vidhan Sabha that guilty would not be spared. We have firmly presented doubtful role played by CID in investigations of PMDS scams and it is our demand that land belonging to Devasthan Samiti should be returned under any situation.”

Shri. Abhay Vartak, Sanatan Sanstha said, “The past Government took over management of many ‘jagrut’ temples such as Shri Tulajabhavani, Shri. Vitthal-Rukmini, Shri Mahalakshmi, Shri Jyotiba, Shri Nrusimhawadi, Shri Siddhivinayak etc under the guise of proper management; however, there are scams worth millions of rupees, land scams involving thousands of acres of land; deaths of cows donated by devotees and their sale to butchers; splurging money on meetings of Samiti at five-star hotels etc and many such malpractices were exposed by HJS, Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad (HVP) and other devotees with proofs. As a result, inquiry was started into management of PMDS and Tulajapur Devasthan Samiti’s scams by the State CID; however, these inquiries are deliberately delayed for years together and there is likelihood of destruction of proofs; therefore, there is wave of anger amongst all devotees.”

Shri. Shrikant Pisolkar, Vidarbha Coordinator of HJS said, “The wrong doings of temples are going on since no action has been taken so far despite exposure of scams committed by PMDS. There were instances of death of cows; sale of cow/ cattle to butchers by temple committee of Pandharpur Devasthan Samiti. If action had been taken at the right time, it would have saved many cows. Income of PMDS is worth billions of rupees but the auction of donation boxes at Tulajapur Devasthan Samiti is being carried out at half of the due price since past 19 years; 265 acres of land belonging to this temple was grabbed and 8000 acres of land belonging to Mahalakshmi Mandir was also snatched. Inquiry has been going on for many years; but no action has been taken even against one person. All the involved persons involved in misappropriation of God’s funds will not be forgiven by God.”

Advocate Vaishali Paranjape said, “It has been clearly mentioned in the report prepared by Charity Commissioner’s office that MANS has duped the Government by misappropriating funds; therefore, Administrator should be appointed on the Trust of MANS and the unauthorized slaughter house known as ‘Sonankur Exports Pvt. Ltd’ causing harm to public health should be immediately closed down.”

Representations with the above demands were submitted to the Government by going to Nagpur Vidhan Bhavan. Shri. Atul Arvenla of HJS did compeering of the program.
