Measurement of time as per Hindu Dharma

Most Hindus who have been educated in the anti Hindu education system devised by Max Mueller and Macaulay, consider it their privilege to blindly ape the western customs. The sore lack of Dharmashikshan (lack of education on Dharma) is the reason for the present pitiable state of Hindus. As a result, not only do most Hindus ignore the fact that the Hindu New year begins on Gudipadwa (also known as Yugadi), they deride those who advise them to observe this day.

In this article, we will see the immense timescales that have been familiar to Hindus since time immemorial. Also we will be able to appreciate the expansive nature of time. Seekers will be able to introspect on the infinitesimally tiny part that we occupy in the wheel of time; which will help reduce ego.

1. Time is infinite

It is divided as Kalpa, Manvantar, Mahayuga, Yuga

A. Four Yugas

Satyayuga = 17 lakh 28 thousand years
Tretayuga = 12 lakh 96 thousand years
Dwaparyuga = 8 lakh 64 thousand years
Kaliyuga = 4 lakh 32 thousand years

B. Mahayuga

Mahayuga (Chaturyuga) = Sum of all four Yugas; 43 lakh 20 thousand years

C. Manvantar

Manvantar = 71 Mahayugas make on Manvantar

D. Kalpa

Kalpa = 14 Manvantars (or One Thousand Mahayugas)
14 Manvantars / One Thousand Mahayugas = 4 Abja 32 Crore years
(4,32,00,00,000)

2. Kalpa is one Day or One Night in the life of Deity Brahma

Such 360 Days + 360 Nights = One Year of Deity Brahma’s life
Deity Brahma’s lifespan = 100 years (calculated as shown above)
50 years of Brahma’s life = One ghadi from Vishnu’s life
12 lakh kaal of Vishnu’s life = Half kaal of Deity Shiva
After this Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva are recreated.

3. As of now, 50 years from Brahma’s life have been completed i.e 1 parardha

15,55,20,00,00,00,000 (15 Nikharva, 55 Kharva, 20 Abja) years have passed.

A. Right now, the first day of the 51st year (Shwetavaraha Kalpa) is going on.

B. Manvantars of this kalpa have been completed while the 7th (Vaivasvat) is taking place.

C. The Vaivaswat Manvantar comprises of 71 mahayugas of which 27 have been completed. The Satyayuga Tretayuga and Dwaparyuga of the 28th Mahayuga have been completed, and we are in the Kaliyuga.

D. Currently the first part of kaliyuga is going on. In this part, 5119 years have passed and from this Gudipadwa / Yugadi the 5120th year will commence.

E. To specifically calculate the year that starts on this Gudipadwa / Yugadi.
First Parardha = [6 Manvantars x 71 x Mayugas] = [27 mahayugas x 43,20,000] + 3 yugas (Satyayuga, Tretayuga+ Dwaparyuga] + 5120

F. That would be,
15,55,20,00,00,00,000 + 1,84,03,20,000 + 11,66,40,000 + 38,88,000,+ 5120
= 15,55,21,96,08,53,120

So we will celebrate our 15,55,21,96,08,53,120th new year !
