Panaji – Goa PWD minister and senior leader of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) Ramkrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar said that his family members are associated with Hindu right-wing organization Sanatan Sanstha – an organization under scanner for the murder of Leftist leader Govind Pansare since 2000 – and that there is nothing wrong in it as they are promoting Hindu dharma and culture.
Sudin’s wife Jyoti along with his brother and MGP president Pandurang `Deepak’ Dhavalikar’s wife Lata have been associated with Sanatan Sanstha since 2000. MGP is a coalition partner in the BJP government in the state. Even during the previous Congress government, the party was a coalition partner in the state.
Speaking to TOI, Sudin said that “Sanatan’s name has always been dragged into a controversy because they are pro-Hindu and if they would have belonged to any other religion then their name would have not come into picture.”
Sudin said “We have never given donation to Sanatan since we always help educational institutions, old age homes, and others related to specific persons who want to go for higher education particularly engineering, medical, nursing, and such professional colleges.” He also said that Sanatan Sanstha has never approached the government or him for funding. There are some events like puja, publishing magazines etc for which they come seeking advertisement from the government and as per natural justice, just like for other publications, we give them some advertisements. We support Sanatan Sanstha through government advertisements”.
Sudin also said that his family does not have any long relationship with Sanatan Sanstha. The Sanatan Sanstha came to being in his (Assembly) constituency from 2004.
“As far as my family is concerned my wife is a sadhak of Sanatan Sanstha. We are basically from a priestly family. We always help our Hindu dharma and culture to come up. We have seen that they are after dharma & are helping in promoting culture, and that is the reason we and our family are associated with them to have good work relationship with them,” he added.
