1. Duration of the vowed religious observance

The ashunyashayan vowed religious observance is performed on Aashadh krushna (vadya) paksha 2. This year that date as per Hindu lunar calendar falls on 18.7.2019. It should be performed every month from Aashadh to Margashirsha on vadya 2.

 

2. Deity of the vowed religious observance

On this day Shri Narayan lying on Shesh serpent as the couch, adorning the Shrivatsa symbol, with four arms and Shrilakshmi with Him, is worshipped.

 

3. Norms of the vowed religious observance

A. Remaining in silence (maun) all day and to remain in constant communion with Shri Narayan.

B. After moon rise eat a meal only after making an offering (arghya).

 

4. Benefits

According to the Bhavishya Puran this vowed religious observance prevents calamities on the particular family and endows the happiness of remaining a married woman (soubhagya).
