Need for Spirituality
Actual practice of Spirituality for overcoming shortcomings in one's life
Bishop T.D. Jakes had a three-day conference in Atlanta, which more than 80,000 women from around the world attended. The aim of this conference was to bring forth the practical applications of the Bible's truths to get closer to God. It was reported that black women, in particular, flocked to hear his candid discussions of topics such as domestic violence, sexual abuse, and breast cancer. Many credit his revivals for delivering them from low self-esteem and bad relationships.
The fact that people from around the world, including those from affluent and technologically advanced nations such as America, seek spiritual solutions, speaks volumes about the importance of Spirituality. Besides being aware that Spirituality is the permanent solution to one's unhappiness in life and the only means of being in Bliss, it is important to understand the science of Spirituality, which is the only way of attaining it. Spirituality, being a science, needs to be studied and practiced accordingly. Most of us commit the folly of just listening to inspirational spiritual talks and leave it at that. It is only by regular spiritual practice (sadhana) that one can actually and definitely make a difference in his life.

* If one is not currently doing any spiritual practice, or to complement one's current spiritual practice, one can begin with the simple, but powerful spiritual practice of chanting or constantly remembering God's Name according to one's religion. Chanting also acts as a useful complement to any spiritual path one may be already following. It is a practice recommended for the current times by Holy texts and Saints of all religions.
-
To begin with, one can repeat God's Name according to their religion (refer to Issue 3 Clarification of Doubts section for a list of God's Names as per various religions), or the Name that they feel most comfortable chanting.
-
Interested readers can determine the exact chant for them from the experiment given inIssue 124, Message to Seekers section.
