Common Misconceptions about Spirituality

“One needs to search for a Soul mate”

A spiritual magazine featured an article about finding one's Soul mate through hypnotherapy. “People know deep down, that it (a twin flame called Soul mate) does exist, and it's true that there's one special person that's just for you in this world. When you find that person, the way one knows that that is the Soul mate for you, is that once you meet them you are always with that person. You will never be without that person.”

According to the science of Spirituality, man is born for two reasons — the first is to live his destiny and the second is to make spiritual progress. Naturally, the events in one's life are decided in such a way so as to complete our 'give and take account' and thereby live our destiny. Major events in man's life such as birth, marriage, death, etc., are pre-decided, i.e., decided by destiny. Thus, we are predestined to find life partners who will be complementary to our and their destiny. This being so, there is obviously no reason to search for them, as even if we were to try to avoid them, we would still be drawn to them in some way or the other. Another important factor in such predestined major events is the time factor. Along with the specific event that is to occur, the time when it is to occur is also predestined. Hence, no matter how hard one tries, one would still not find them till the time is right.

*If one is not currently doing any spiritual practice, or to complement one's current spiritual practice, one can begin with the simple, but powerful spiritual practice of chanting or constantly remembering God's Name according to one's religion. Chanting also acts as a useful complement to any spiritual path one may be already following. It is a practice recommended for the current times by Holy texts and Saints of all religions.

  • To begin with, one can repeat God's Name according to their religion (refer to Issue 3 Clarification of Doubts section for a list of God's Names as per various religions), or the Name that they feel most comfortable chanting.

  • Interested readers can determine the exact chant for them from the experiment given inIssue 124, Message to Seekers section.
