Clarification of Doubts

In Spirituality, no matter how much theoretical information one has access to, one's spiritual practice will not be smooth unless needling doubts are clarified. If you should have any questions related to spirituality, please email us at Weekly.

Question: It is mentioned in your Weekly that a seeker doing spiritual practice under the guidance of a Guru can progress at the rate of 2-3* % per year whereas a disciple (seeker bestowed with the Guru’s grace) can progress at the rate of 5-8% per year. How does one acquire the Guru's grace?

– Mr. Atul and Mrs. Avantika Dighe, Australia.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Dighe,

The Guru's grace is dependent on: 1. intense yearning for spiritual progress, and 2. regular spiritual practice. There are various paths of spiritual practice. The path of Guru's grace brings about spiritual progress most rapidly. It includes repeating the Lord's Name as per one’s religion, attending spiritual meetings (satsang), and service unto the Lord.

*Note: On a scale of 1% to 100%, a spiritual level of 20% depicts that of an average person whereas a spiritual level of 100% depicts that of One Who has attained Final Liberation.

*If one is not currently doing any spiritual practice, or to complement one's current spiritual practice, one can begin with the simple, but powerful spiritual practice of chanting or constantly remembering God's Name according to one's religion. Chanting also acts as a useful complement to any spiritual path one may be already following. It is a practice recommended for the current times by Holy texts and Saints of all religions.

  • To begin with, one can repeat God's Name according to their religion (refer to Issue 3 Clarification of Doubts section for a list of God's Names as per various religions), or the Name that they feel most comfortable chanting.

  • Interested readers can determine the exact chant for them from the experiment given inIssue 124, Message to Seekers section.
