Messages for the week ending October 1, 2005
Do not call on the Mobile number (Reliance) 9326113444
for contacting Ramnathi
ashram (Goa, India)
Miss Aparna Gude and Miss Anuradha Wadekar have gone to North India to spread Spirituality. They have been given the mobile phone 9326113444 (Reliance). Therefore, do not call this number to contact Ramnathi ashram.
Seekers must atone for mistakes committed
by them while
doing any kind of seva
If one has to progress spiritually, one has to do seva, and if any mistake is committed while doing seva, one has to atone for it. At the end of the month, while preparing a report on the stock of books, photographs of deities or name strips etc., sometimes the accounts do not tally and there is shortage of some item or the other. It is therefore expected that the seeker committing such a mistake has to make good the loss.
In case a seeker with weak financial position is required to pay an amount that he is unable to pay, he can still atone for it, but in some other way. Some seekers are financially sound. They give donations regularly. The responsible seekers, in such cases, feel awkward telling such seekers to make good the loss; but it is necessary for one’s spiritual progress, and to avoid the loss incurred due to the committed mistake, to take the appropriate atonement.
Since giving donation helps one to progress spiritually, there can be spiritual loss if one does not atone for a mistake. Keep this rule of spiritual practice in mind and atone for your mistakes. In such cases, we can give the amount towards atonement instead of donating it.
In case of errors in preparation of reports, as seekers have to pay the amount to make up the loss, some seekers avoid taking up the seva. This attitude is wrong. We should be able to perform every kind of seva. Even if we do not take up the seva of preparation of reports considering the money factor, in case of mistakes in other types of seva, punishment is imperative.
Seekers! We shall save electricity and
try
to inculcate
the quality of thrift in us
It has been observed that seekers are not using electricity economically, due to which quite high electricity bills are received. Considering this, seekers should try to save electricity.
Use lights and fans in your room only when required. At night, some seekers close the windows and doors of their rooms, take a thick bed cover and keep the fans on. This is unnecessary use of electricity. Wherever the old style container is used for heating water (where water is heated by burning coal), use the coal-iron for ironing clothes. Many seekers from Miraj ashram have started using such coal-irons for this purpose for the last one month. Once the coal-iron gets heated, many clothes can be ironed in a short time. Only in case of urgency should an electric iron be used. In the future, during times of crisis, electricity won’t be available and we’ll have to use coal. If we start using coal for ironing from now on, we will get used to it.
Seekers must remember that as every thing belongs to Guru, its use in a proper and economic way is a seeker-ship quality.
Donate coal-irons!
If coal-irons are available from you or anyone from your district or ashram, offer them as donations to the nearest ashram in case they are not in use. If such a coal-iron is not available from you, try to get it from a junk shop at a cheaper cost. However, before sending a coal-iron, first make sure that the ashram has not already received one.
Seekers should follow the example of Mrs. Dahisarkar for the earnestness (talmal) with which she tries for increasing subscribers of Sanatan’s periodicals
Mrs. Jayashree Dahisarkar, a seeker from Jagamata ashram in Thane district (India) made 32 people subscribers of the DSP (Daily Sanatan Prabhat—Marathi Publication) in two days on the occasion of ‘Pitru-paksha’ (fortnight of performing rituals to appease ancestors) while a total of 130 people became subscribers in Thane district. She made those 32 people subscribers in one fortnight by explaining to them the importance of performing rituals in Pitru-paksha and chanting*. Similarly, seekers from Kolshet ashram made 98 people subscribers of the DSP for the period from Pitru-paksha to Dassera.
Seekers from other districts should also follow the example of seekers from Thane district and try to reach more people for subscribing to the Sanatan organization periodicals.
Play cassettes of holy songs (bhajans) sung by
His Holiness
(H.H.) Bhaktaraj Maharaj at home and in the ashram
The distressing energies (DE) are troubled when cassettes of bhajans sung by H. H. Bhaktaraj Maharaj are played. The bhajans recorded on the cassette are sung by H. H. Bhaktaraj Maharaj Himself. Therefore, these cassettes contain a lot of ‘Naad-shakti (sound energy)’ and divine consciousness (chaitanya). The distressing energies cannot fight for a long time at the level of divine consciousness. As the cassette is played, the ‘chaitanya’ spreads in the atmosphere. It also helps in awakening spiritual emotion and chanting. Therefore, in the ashram or at home, wherever possible, seekers should play cassettes of bhajans sung by H. H. Bhaktaraj Maharaj.
Immerse the old flowers offered to deities only after taking
benefit of the divine energy and divine consciousness present in them
Flowers offered to deities draw divine energy and divine consciousness from the deities. After removing these flowers from the altar, seekers should keep such flowers with them for at least some time, to get the benefit of the divine energy and divine consciousness present in them, before immersing them. While keeping those flowers with us, pray to God to get the benefit of the divine energy and divine consciousness present in them.
Seekers should first try to become good workers
and then
aim to imbibe seeker-ship qualities
It is possible to progress only gradually/step-by-step in spiritual practice. Therefore, if we want to imbibe seeker-ship qualities, it is first necessary to become a good worker who does his work perfectly. To achieve this, it is essential to stress upon imbibing qualities like listening to others, being honest, observing discipline, doing seva without mistakes and being punctual/doing everything on time. When one accomplishes this stage, only then is it possible to become a good seeker, namely to chant, be in satsang, do seva, sacrifice, have spiritual love for everyone, remove personality defects, reduce ego and awaken spiritual emotion. Therefore, one trying to become a good worker should concentrate on his work and talk only about his work to others, rather than talking about removing personality defects and awakening spiritual emotion.

The following spiritual remedies may be carried out
if there
are obstacles while doing seva on a computer
Presently seekers are facing a lot of problems while doing seva on a computer. To remove the obstacles at gross and subtle levels, seekers should carry out the following remedies:
1. Gross Remedies
A. Hardware
- Computer table should be clean.
- Everyday the monitor and CPU should be cleaned from the outside.
- CPU should be cleaned from the inside every 2-3 months using a vacuum cleaner.
- If the mouse is not working properly, it has to be cleaned from the inside.
- Eatables and liquids (such as tea or water) should not be kept near the computer and one should not eat sitting in front of computer, as there is likelihood of dropping food particles on the keyboard. If the food particles fall on the keyboard, they might attract ants, which might damage the keyboard.
B. Software
- After every 15 days, update the anti-virus package, if available, and scan all the files for viruses.
- ‘TMP’ and ‘CHK’ files should be regularly deleted from computer.
- While saving files on the computer, save them in drives other than the C-drive.
- After the seva is over, cover the computer’s CPU, Monitor, Printer etc. with a cloth or paper.
- After shutting down the computer, switch off the main button.
2. Subtle Remedies
- While doing seva on the computer, take breaks in between to offer gratitude at the feet of Shri Krishna for getting the seva done through you without any obstacles and pray to Him “Oh Lord Shri Krishna, let there be a protective sheath around me and the computer and let the seva be completed without any obstacles.” Then chant Shri Krishna’s name for two minutes.
- Blow holy ash (vibhuti) on the computer every morning and evening.
- Stick the small name-strip of Shri Krishna on the ‘CPU’ and the computer.
- If the problem is severe, chant the names of Shri Durga Devi, Lord Shiva and Shri Krishna alternately for 15 minutes.
- While doing the seva on the computer, have the spiritual emotion that you are doing the seva with a fellow seeker.
*If one is not currently doing any spiritual practice, or to complement one's current spiritual practice, one can begin with the simple, but powerful spiritual practice of chanting or constantly remembering God's Name according to one's religion. Chanting also acts as a useful complement to any spiritual path one may be already following. It is a practice recommended for the current times by Holy texts and Saints of all religions.
-
Seekers in the initial stages of spiritual practice (less than one year) can repeat The Name of the Lord as per their religion (refer to Issue 3 Clarification of Doubts section for details).
-
Seekers who have been doing regular spiritual practice for over a year or so can determine the appropriate chant for them from the experiment given in Issue 124, Message to Seekers section.
