Signficance of 'Sanatan'
Question: “What does the name of this organization, ‘Sanatan’, mean?”
- Ms. Jennifer (New Jersey, U.S.A.)

Dear Ms. Jennifer,

‘Sanatan’ means that which is always new, full of Divine consciousness, and that which never ages. Only an eternal thing created by the Almighty can be such. The word ‘Sanstha’ means an organization.

The consonant ‘s’ that appears in the organization’s name stands for the seed (bija) of the sun. The sun represents radiance. Every seeker in the world is engrossed in the spiritual practice of radiance and in contemplation about the soul that is radiant. Thus, the mission of Sanatan is carried out in every place in the world where there is a seeker.

Thus, the ‘Sanatan organization’ refers to an organization that is radiant with Divine consciousness (chaitanya) and devoted to spiritual evolution of all seekers.
