Greater efficiency in executing worldly duties

Last week, I started working as a software analyst, after being a full time homemaker for three and half years. The first day, I put in all my efforts to understand what was going on and to keep up with the work pace, but I had trouble doing so. I felt as though a part of my intellect was rusted and needed cleaning. I had made up my mind that all I want in life is to progress spiritually and felt that I was investing too much of my time trying to learn the technology at work, away from God. So from the next day, I decided to focus on chanting* no matter what. To my surprise, I found that the more I focused on chanting, the more easily I understood my work. I learned the new technology much sooner than expected, even surprising my co-workers.

[The importance of concentration in doing any task cannot be emphasized enough. Among its manifold benefits, chanting helps reduce unnecessary thinking and thus, increases concentration, as can be seen from the above experience.

Ailment of ten years cured after six months of chanting*

I used to get severe allergy attacks. These would make me sick for ten to twelve days at a time. During the attack, I would feel extremely sick, frustrated, and irritated, to the extent that I would not want anybody including my husband, children, and parents, around. Sometimes, the attack would be so extreme that I would not even want to live anymore. This continued for over ten years. I went to the best of doctors, but to no avail. I even tried special injections, imported from UK, but even those did not have much effect. Finally, when I started chanting, my sickness gradually reduced and within six months, I got completely cured. Since then, I have not had another allergy attack.

[To overcome any problem, including an illness, the cause of the illness has to be diagnosed accurately and remedied accordingly. The cause of most problems, especially major problems like long drawn illnesses, etc., is often due to spiritual factors. Hence, they are effectively overcome with spiritual remedies, as seen in the above experience.

* If one is not currently doing any spiritual practice, or to complement one’s current spiritual practice, one can begin with the simple, but powerful spiritual practice of chanting or constantly remembering God's Name according to one's religion. Chanting also acts as a useful complement to any spiritual path one may be already following. It is a practice recommended for the current times by Holy texts and Saints of all religions.

  • Seekers in the initial stages of spiritual practice (less than one year) can repeat The Name of the Lord as per their religion (refer to Issue 3 Clarification of Doubts section for details).

  • Seekers who have been doing regular spiritual practice for over a year or so can determine the appropriate chant for them from the experiment given in Issue 124, Message to Seekers section.
