Do not waste time in answering pointless
queries that could create doubts in your mind |
Seekers should not waste their
time in answering pointless queries by individuals, which can lead to doubts
in their own minds.

Stomachache reduces after sitting on
the seat
earlier
occupied by
seeker in charge of district,
and later pain stops
when talking to him on the phone |
I had had a stomachache since
the previous night. At 11:30 a.m. on March 5, 2005, while typing the report,
I sat on the same seat that was used by the seeker in charge of the district
on the previous day for resting his feet when he was checking the computerized
report. I noticed that my pain reduced after occupying that seat. Later, that
seeker called up to discuss something about satseva. After talking to him, my
stomachache completely disappeared and I could laugh, which I was unable to do
earlier. (On a number of occasions, I have observed that my distress has reduced
after talking to that seeker.)
– Miss Sarita
[This is due to the ‘sattvikta’ of
the seeker in charge of the district. If seekers have similar spiritual experiences
with their co- seekers, the same may be conveyed in writing to sanatan@sanatan.org or your local ashram.]

Give preference to the advice given
by
a practitioner (vaidya) of Ayurveda |
Presently, seekers undergoing physical
problems are consulting ayurvedic as well as allopathic medical practitioners.
Sometimes, for the same ailment, there is a difference of opinion between an
allopath and a vaidya, leading to confusion for the patient. In such cases, per
the principle to take better of the best, advice of a vaidya is preferred. Since
there are constant innovations in the field of allopathy, there are also changes
in the method of treatment. Ayurveda is a comprehensive medical science and there
is no change in the prescribed method of treatment.

Seekers should avoid the following
mistakes
while pursuing PD removal process |
In a study class conducted on
the method of removal of personality defects (PDs), it was noticed that seekers
were giving auto-suggestions incorrectly. Under the process of PD removal, formulating
auto-suggestions and doing the sessions (taking auto-suggestions) are the two
main stages. The process of PD removal will not be effective if there is a mistake
at either of the two stages. Therefore, Seekers may feel that despite following
the PD removal procedure, there is no change in them, which can lead to depression.
The following mistakes should therefore be avoided:
- The same personality defect may manifest in a number of different incidents.
Seekers tend to give a generalized auto-suggestion, feeling that an auto-suggestion
given in one incident cannot bring improvement in other incidents of wrong action
and/or reaction. If a specific auto-suggestion is prepared based on a certain
incident involving wrong action or reaction, it is easier to bring about expected
improvement in our subconscious impression (sanskar) in stages.
- Some seekers, when told to give auto-suggestions based on a specific incident,
try to include all the incidents of wrong action and reaction involving the same
PD in one auto-suggestion. Our subconscious mind does not accept auto-suggestions
containing suggestions for improving more than one action or reaction and so
improvement does not take place as expected. The analogy of ‘it is easier
to break one stick at a time rather than the whole bunch of sticks’ also
applies in the case of giving auto-suggestions.
- Some seekers inflict punishment on themselves while doing a session of auto-suggestions,
for example, pinching themselves during an auto-suggestion. Our subconscious
mind does not accept such suggestions. The method of auto-suggestion can be used
to create an impression in our subconscious mind to pinch ourselves immediately
upon realization of occurrence of a wrong action or reaction. However, during
the auto-suggestion session itself, only mention of the punishment should be
made, without actually inflicting it upon oneself.

*If one is not currently doing any spiritual practice, or to complement one's
current spiritual practice, one can begin with the simple, but powerful spiritual
practice of chanting or constantly remembering God's Name according to one's
religion. Chanting also acts as a useful complement to any spiritual path one
may be already following. It is a practice recommended for the current times
by Holy texts and Saints of all religions.
-
Seekers in the initial stages of spiritual practice (less than one year) can
repeat The Name of the Lord as per their religion (refer to Issue 3 Clarification
of Doubts section for details).
-
Seekers who have been doing regular spiritual practice for over a year or
so can determine the appropriate chant for them from the experiment given in
Issue 124, Message
to Seekers section.
