Spiritual experience of a child seeker

Fear going away after chanting* God's Name

I heard about the benefits of chanting at the children's moral workshops held by the Sanatan organization every week. A week later, when I was playing football, the opposite team scored a goal due to my mistake. Since I had just joined the team, I was afraid that my teammates would get angry at me. Just then I remembered the importance of chanting from the children's moral workshops and I began chanting. Soon after I started chanting, my fear started reducing. Soon, the fear was gone completely and I could play the rest of the game confidently.

- Master Adip (Age 11), New Jersey, USA.
[Dear friends, we all experience fear for some reason or the other. Adip’s experience shows that chanting God's Name can help take away our fears. This is because God's Name is very pure and when we keep repeating It, its purity gets impressed on our mind and removes negative impressions like fear, anger, etc. Thus, chanting helps improve our confidence and behavior.

* Chanting means constantly remembering or repeating God’s Name according to our religion. Young children should also chant 'Om Gan Ganapataye namaha' (Lord Ganesh's chant) for at least 15-30 minutes daily for divine protection. Older children, who have been doing spiritual practice for some time, can determine their exact chant from the experiment in Issue 124, Message to Seekers section. Parents should repeat (chant) The Lord's Name for children too young to do so themselves.
