Spiritual experience of a child seeker

Beating personal swimming record after chanting*

After attending a few children’s moral workshops conducted by the Sanatan organization, I learned that having faith in God, by chanting God’s Name, helps us overcome obstacles in life. One day, I decided to try it. That day I had a swimming championship and was not feeling well. So, I sat down and chanted for half an hour before the race. To my surprise, even though I was not well, I beat my last swimming record!

- Master Vikram Ingle (14 years old), New Jersey, USA.
[Dear friends, when we are not well, it is very difficult to even swim at all. Thus, Vikram’s experience with chanting shows how powerful chanting is; it can give the strength to swim better than ever before, even if we are unwell. This is because chanting God’s Name is like over and over again calling God for His help. When God hears us calling Him with all our heart, He helps us as He helped Vikram, by giving Vikram the strength needed to swim well.

* Chanting means constantly remembering or repeating God’s Name according to our religion. Young children should also chant 'Om Gan Ganapataye namaha' (Lord Ganesh's chant) for at least 15-30 minutes daily for divine protection. Older children, who have been doing spiritual practice for some time, can determine their exact chant from the experiment in Issue 124, Message to Seekers section. Parents should repeat (chant) The Lord's Name for children too young to do so themselves.
