Need For Spirituality
Former police officer feels hunted:
regular spiritual practice* for ensuring a true sense of security

NJ, USA. The news story of a former police Lieutenant, Joe Stenukinis, is at once disturbing and incredible. It has raised questions about the level of police corruption. The former police officer maintains that during his tenure as the head of the Internal Affairs division of Edison, NJ, his efforts to root out corruption — including crimes such as rape, aggravated assault, arson for profit and theft — in the police force were often covered up. He claims that the officers that he had investigated during his tenure assaulted his stepdaughter while falsely accusing him, and arresting him and his family in revenge. The former police head maintains that he was forced to resign from his 25-year career in exchange for dropping the false charges against him and is now filing a federal civil rights lawsuit against the NJ police department.

One can imagine the predicament of ordinary citizens if an Internal Affairs officer, who has put in 25 years of service, feels insecure and hunted. If such is the case in a first world nation with a relatively sound law and order system, what must be the plight of ordinary citizens in not so well developed nations! The only way to ensure peace and a sense of security under such conditions is to imbibe the omnipotent God Principle as much as possible. Regular spiritual practice alone can facilitate this process of attaining divine protection and security.

* If one is not currently doing any spiritual practice, or to complement one’s current spiritual practice, one can begin with the simple, but powerful spiritual practice of chanting or constantly remembering God's Name according to one's religion. Chanting also acts as a useful complement to any spiritual path one may be already following. It is a practice recommended for the current times by Holy texts and Saints of all religions.

  • Seekers in the initial stages of spiritual practice (less than one year) can repeat The Name of the Lord as per their religion (refer to Issue 3 Clarification of Doubts section for details).

  • Seekers who have been doing regular spiritual practice for over a year or so can determine the appropriate chant for them from the experiment given in Issue 124, Message to Seekers section.
