Strive to develop intense yearning

H.H. Dr. Jayant Athavale

Gurupurnima, from a seekers’ point of view, is the day to pay gratitude and surrender unto the Guru. The Guru in one’s life is in reality the manifest form of God’s savior (sagun) aspect and is actually a principle.

During the past one year, seekers of the Sanatan organization have been experiencing the Guru’s savior aspect on a daily basis, when faced with distress caused to them by distressing energies.

For a seeker to be blessed by a Guru and to thereafter continually experience His grace, the seeker needs to have intense motivation for Liberation from the cycle of birth and death, or an intense yearning for a Guru. The key to the constant flow of the Guru’s grace is through one’s keen desire, along with one’s sincere efforts for spiritual progress at every moment and with every breath.

The only purpose of the Guru in one’s life is to give one the inspiration to develop increased spiritual knowledge, which actually means increasing one’s yearning or intense motivation for Liberation. For the establishment of the Divine Kingdom, intense yearning is essential in a seeker. On the occasion of Gurupurnima, seekers should surrender unto the Guru and pray for intense yearning.
