Experience of child seekers.

Morals and values are unclear to today’s youth. With this in mind, the Sanatan organization conducts workshops to help children at the grass-roots level, in moral value education and spirituality, in India and abroad. In these workshops, children are guided through many different creative activities about the universal tenets of Spirituality. They are given the opportunity to grow in their spiritual understanding. They are also shown how spirituality can positively influence their day-to-day life. They are taught the various steps of spiritual practice such as the need to chant* the Lord’s Name according to their religion, along with the various steps of the Path of the Guru’s grace (Gurukrupayoga).

The drawing below shows us a child seeker’s understanding of the benefit of spiritual practice.

Saved from injury as a result of chanting* (repeating) God’s Name

I have been doing spiritual practice for the past few years, following the guidance given by the Sanatan organization. In the satsang we received guidance to chant while doing every activity throughout the day. I have also learned that repeating the Lord’s Name creates a protective shield around us.

Once, when I was chanting while taking a shower, a hard, stone-like object hit the bathroom window. The glass shattered into small pieces all over the bathroom floor. However, I was not hurt at all. I feel grateful to my family deity (Kuldevata), Whose Name I was chanting, for saving me.

* Constant remembrance or repetition of The Lord’s Name as per our religion. Young children should also chant ‘Om Gan Ganapataye namaha’ for at least 15-30 minutes daily for divine protection. Older children, who have been doing spiritual practice for some time, can find out their exact chant from the experiment in Issue 124, Message to Seekers section. Parents should repeat (chant) The Lord's Name for children too young to do so for themselves.
