(Continued from Issue 230)
For the last four Issues we have been looking
at various psychological methods to reduce ego. In this Issue we
will look at the method of not desiring honor and fame in further
detail.
Not desiring honor and fame: The feeling that
one should be honored and respected encourages one’s ego.
This is further illustrated in the below incidents:
Possibility of increase in ego of seekers
from the subtle region of Bhuvlok if gratitude is expressed
towards them: A seeker from the subtle region imparted the
following information to a seeker on earth with regard to honor
and fame increasing ego:
On May 21, 2003, some seekers had a meeting
at Savantvadi (India) about the mission of the Sanatan organization.
At the conclusion of the meeting, all seekers expressed their gratitude
towards deities for a smooth meeting, without distressing
energy obstacles.
At that time I thought, "We should express gratitude unto
seekers from the subtle region of Bhuvalok, as they, too, assist
the organization." Just
then, my deceased grandfather, now a seeker from the subtle region of Bhuvlok
who helps me by protecting me from distressing energies, said to me, "As
we (seekers from subtle regions) have high ego, if you express gratitude
towards us, will our ego not increase further? Instead if you express gratitude
to the Guru because of Whom we have got this opportunity of serving by assisting
you seekers, then the gratitude will reach us, too."
Before this conversation took place, the thought about the
ego of the seekers from the subtle region had not crossed my mind.
