Did You Know?
Why should one repeat the Gurumantra
(Name of God imparted by the Guru)?

Spiritual progress means assimilating all the divine principles of the Universe in us. There are millions of divine principles in the Universe. One has to acquire them step by step.

However, one does not know which worship/spiritual practice of exactly which divine principle is necessary for one’s spiritual progress at any point. Since the Guru has subtle, divine Knowledge about which divine Principle’s spiritual practice is most conducive for a seeker’s spiritual growth, He advises that particular chant.

When one chants the Name of God as per one’s liking one does become spiritually pure (sattva component predominant). However, the seeker has to go beyond the three subtle components and merge with The Lord, who is beyond the three components (sattva, raja, tama). With the help of the Gurumantra one can go beyond the three components and reach the unmanifest (nirgun) Lord. For that one needs to destroy one’s ego. When one chants the Name of God as per one’s liking, there is at least some ego. In contrast, when one chants the Name given by the Guru, there is no ego.
