Positive changes in personality after commencing spiritual practice as per the guidance of the Sanatan

For the past many months, I have been doing spiritual practice as guided by The Sanatan. Ever since, I have noticed remarkable improvement in my personality over a period of time. At the attitude level, I have begun to handle crisis much better than before. I have found myself becoming calmer and more composed while getting involved in discussions, which would make me very argumentative before. I also feel I have become less judgmental about the people around me. At the subtle level, I have started developing pleasure from chanting* and listening to the prerecorded chants downloaded on my computer.

- Mr. Pratap Kasbekar, the Sanatan’s satsang in Dubai, UAE.
[Spiritual practice results in increase of the Sat (purity) principle in a seeker. This, accompanied by efforts made to remove personality defects via autosuggestion, results in positive internal changes, such as overcoming depression, anger, reduction in reactions, etc. Also, these changes occur in the very attitudes that dictate one's behavior. Hence, they are lasting changes.

Experience of spiritual emotion after feeling the presence of H.H. Dr. Jayant Athavale on speaking to Him mentally and performing mental worship (manaspuja) of His Holy feet

On April 8, 2004, I was saying my prayers after waking up in the morning. Then I had a conversation with H.H. Dr. Jayant Athavale and also mentally worshipped His Holy feet. While doing so, I felt as if He is standing in front of me and listening to every word! I was overcome with spiritual emotion and had tears in my eyes due to spiritual emotion.

- Mrs. Kalpana Sharma, Chicago, USA.
[One of the practices for evoking spiritual emotion is to converse with God as a friend or a guide (sakhyabhakti). When this conversation is done with sincerity and humility, one experiences spiritual emotion. As observed above, tears’ flowing is one of the manifestations of spiritual emotion.

*Constant remembrance or repetition of The Lord’s Name. When done mentally, it can be done anywhere and anytime, as it does not need purity of body, time or place. However, in the initial stages it is recommended that one start by sitting in one place for at least half an hour daily and repeat (chant) The Name of one’s Kuldevata or per their religion (refer to Issue 3, Clarification of Doubts section for details on what Name to repeat according to one’s religion.) Those in the advanced stages and who have been doing regular spiritual practice for over one year are advised to determine The Name appropriate for them from the experiment given in Issue 124, Messages to Seeker section.
