Spiritual practice for happy living

Repeat (chant*) The Lord's Name for a couple of minutes to achieve some concentration of the mind. Then stop chanting and look at the following boxes and note your perception. The details of how to assess one's subtle perception of an object can be seen by clicking on this section's heading.

E-mail us your answers at the Weekly. (After trying the experiment, click on either the blank images or the text 'Figure A/B' to reveal the images.)

Answer to the last week's experiment (Issue 224):

Figure A had a picture of subtle region (bhuvalok) seeker Kashinath after commencing spiritual practice whereas Figure B had a picture before he commenced spiritual practice. One feels pleasant looking at figure A and distressed by looking at figure B. Figure A emits positive vibrations whereas Figure B emits negative or distressing vibrations.

Seeker Kashinath is a seeker from the subtle region called bhuvalok. Prior to becoming a seeker, he was under the influence of distressing energies such as evil sorcerers from bhuvalok and used to trouble other seekers as per the instructions of those sorcerers. When he manifested in a seeker he was explained the importance of surrendering and worshipping God by a seeker from the subtle department of The Sanatan. Once he understood the importance of surrendering to God, he immediately started his spiritual practice to develop divine qualities. He broke away from the sorcerers’ influence and instead started helping seekers of the Sanatan organization. The positive changes in seeker Kashinath, amply highlighting the importance of appropriate spiritual practice, are evident from this experiment.

*Constant remembrance or repetition of The Lord’s Name. When done mentally, it can be done anywhere and anytime, as it does not need purity of body, time or place. However, in the initial stages it is recommended that one start by sitting in one place for at least half an hour daily and repeat (chant) The Name of one’s Kuldevata or per their religion (refer to Issue 3, Clarification of Doubts section for details on what Name to repeat according to one’s religion.) Those in the advanced stages and who have been doing regular spiritual practice for over one year are advised to determine The Name appropriate for them from the experiment given in Issue 124, Messages to Seekers section.
