Practical Guidance
    H. H. Dr. Jayant Athavale conducts weekly satsangs in the various centers of the Sanatan throughout India. These encompass several topics, such as spiritual practice, Saints, Deities, the science of Spirituality, etc. Below are some of the points He shared with seekers in a recent satsang.

Seekers need to cultivate the quality of leadership along with obedience

During a satsang, a seeker narrated his mistake of not properly ironing a Saint’s shirt. The seeker further stated that in order to rectify his mistake, after he finished his satseva of ironing, he would henceforth ask a seeker to check if it is done properly.

While a seeker should cultivate the quality of obedience by asking questions on one’s seva and following what has been told, one has to learn from the answers and learn to apply them from that point on. Thus, in this case, instead of asking every time whether the shirt was ironed well or not, one should learn from the input of another seeker the first time around and from then on, always try to iron the shirt properly. Even better would have been if in this case, once the seeker has come to know that he did not iron the shirt properly, he should take the initiative to see what is a properly ironed shirt, how to iron it thus and learn to iron it properly. That way, the seeker would have developed the divine quality of leadership, instead of being dependent on other seekers’ input over and over on the same matter.
