Possibility of distress from distressing energies
to an average person and a seeker - Part 2

In the last Issue, we started the discussion about how ego increases the possibility of distress caused by distressing energies. In this Issue we will discuss the teaching of Sage Kaustubh and an example of a seeker's spiritual experience in this regard.

Possibility of distress due to distressing energy to an average person and a seeker

Teaching of Sage Kaustubh

On June 26, 2003, Sage Kaustubh gave the following information about the relation between ego and distressing energies. "If a seeker has high ego then it adversely affects his spiritual progress. Distressing energies also afflict him to a greater extent. When the spiritual emotion that 'God does everything' increases, it helps to make the situation bearable."

The Lord protecting from distressing energy only after reduction in ego

If one harbors the ego that 'I will fight distressing energies by myself', then the Lord does not help him. As against this, when ego reduces, God helps the seeker. The spiritual experience of a seeker in this context is given below.

On March 10, 2003, at noon during the 'group staring in the eye therapy', I was getting many negative thoughts. I could see H. H. Dr. Jayant Athavale's Holy feet before me, but I also felt that someone was trying to take me away from them. The prayer to God for protection from that distressing energy began to occur, but it did not have any effect on the distressing energy. Finally I thought, 'Let me fight the distressing energy myself' and I began to fight. In this process, I thought of Sage Yadnyavalkya. Once a distressing energy was troubling Him. Even the trinity of Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva could not stop that distressing energy. Finally Sage Yadnyavalkya assumed a miniature form and entered a nail of Lord Shiva. Then the distressing energy could not do anything to Him. After remembering this, I, too, assumed a small form mentally and entered a nail of H. H. Dr. Athavale. Then the distressing energy troubling me had to go away.
