Understanding and recognizing how distressing energies
cause obstruction in spiritual practice and daily life

Look at the following picture for two minutes while repeating (chanting*) ‘Om namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya’ (Lord Krushna’s Name). (An audio recording of this Name can be found here. Use the Marak (destroyer of evil) form for this experiment.) Note your observations while looking at each. The details of how to assess one’s subtle perception of an object can be seen by clicking on this section’s heading.

Answer to the last week's experiment (Issue 219):

Figure A had a picture of incense sticks prepared by Sanatan seekers as a part of their spiritual practice, whereas Figure B had a picture of incense sticks prepared commercially. One feels more pleasant and peaceful looking at figure A.

Sanatan’s seekers are preparing incense sticks as service unto God. They repeat (chant*) The Lord’s Name continuously while preparing these incense sticks, adding to the spiritual purity (sattvikta) of the incense sticks. Additionally, these incense sticks are prepared from herbal material and do not use any chemicals, further ensuring their spiritual purity. As a result of repeating (chanting) The Lord’s Name, pure intention of service unto God rather than commercial benefit, and use of only natural material, the spiritual purity of these incense sticks is more. Hence, they emit more positive vibrations.

* If one is not doing any spiritual practice currently, one can begin with the simple, but powerful spiritual practice of repeating (chanting) (constant remembrance of) God's Name as per one's religion. Refer to Issue 3, Clarification of Doubts section for details on what Name to repeat according to one's religion. If one is already doing some spiritual practice, one can complement it with repetition (chanting) of The Lord's Name. Refer to Issue 23, Clarification of Doubts section for a diagrammatic explanation of how repeating (chanting) God's Name works. When done mentally, it can be done anywhere and anytime, as it does not need purity of body, time or place. However, in the initial stages it is recommended that one start by sitting in one place for at least half an hour daily and repeat (chant) The Lord's Name.
