Feeling spiritual emotion (bhav) and spontaneous repetition (chanting*) of The Lord’s Name after intensely calling out to God

For quite few days I was not feeling any spiritual emotion and was also depressed. I was feeling very helpless for not feeling any spiritual emotion like other seekers. Prayers were happening very mechanically. I was feeling some void in my heart. I cried very much in helplessness and anger. I called intensely to God to help me. The very next morning I felt rejuvenated, and felt spiritual emotion and intensity for my spiritual practice, and The Lord’s Name in my heart. God heard the prayer and graced me with spiritual emotion the very next day!

- Mrs. Kalpana Sharma, Chicago, USA.
[When one intensely calls out to God with total surrender He rushes to help us, as seen in above experience. Generally, we tend to feel surrender after coming to a point of helplessness, when we realize that we are unable to do proper spiritual practice. To feel God close to us always, the next step would be to remain in surrender always, even prior to beginning and during each endeavor. This can occur by keeping alive the awareness in every situation and activity that any activity, including spiritual practice happens because of God and not by one’s effort.

Experience of energy and Bliss after being in satsang and implementing what was learned from it

Last week even though I was repeating (chanting) The Lord’s Name during all the household chores, somehow I was not satisfied. Even though I did not face any specific problems, the days were passing just as usual. However, after receiving the weekly phone satsang call from a fellow seeker, I got a lot of motivation. I was inspired when she told me about the efforts of another seeker. Though I did repeat (chant) The Lord’s Name with my regular household work during weekends, I was eagerly waiting for Monday so that I could start a new schedule.

On Monday, I do not know from where I got this energy. Though I am the same person with the same resources, I woke up early in the morning and to my surprise, I completed all my work ahead of time. I was able to complete repeating (chanting) The Lord’s Name sitting in one place and experienced a lot of happiness. When my son came back from school, I received him with full joy. After so many months, I played physical games with him. Till I went to bed, I felt charged with energy. Repetition (chanting) of The Lord’s Name happened automatically all the time. My husband, my son, and everybody else was happy upon seeing me fresh and energetic. I was very happy to enjoy this feeling! I felt immense gratitude to God for doing spiritual practice under the guidance of the Sanatan organization.

- A seeker, Bloomington, Illinois, USA.
[The above spiritual experience is an example of how regular satsang with co-seekers helps further one’s spiritual practice. When one attends satsangs regularly and implements whatever is learned from it immediately, one is graced with experiences like the above.

* If one is not doing any spiritual practice currently, one can begin with the simple, but powerful spiritual practice of repeating (chanting) (constant remembrance of) God's Name as per one's religion. Refer to Issue 3, Clarification of Doubts section for details on what Name to repeat according to one's religion. If one is already doing some spiritual practice, one can complement it with reptition (chanting) of The Lord's Name. Refer to Issue 23, Clarification of Doubts section for a diagrammatic explanation of how repeating (chanting) God's Name works. When done mentally, it can be done anywhere and anytime, as it does not need purity of body, time or place. However, in the initial stages it is recommended that one start by sitting in one place for at least half an hour daily and repeat (chant) The Lord's Name.
