Did You Know?
Journey* of the subtle body (lingadeha) after death

After a person dies his subtle body can deteriorate into a ghost, or other type of distressing energy, such as pishachha, demon, etc., depending on his sins and thoughts entertained during his lifetime. If he continues to commit more sins he deteriorates further even in the subtle regions after death. For example, if he becomes a ghost after death and continues to commit sins as a ghost, he deteriorates into a demon and so on.

- Dainik Sanatan Prabhat,
The Sanatan’s Marathi Daily Newsletter in print in India and online.

    * With meritorious deeds, the subtle body can go up to the lowest heaven (svargalok) and has to take rebirth at some point. With spiritual practice, especially collective spiritual practice, the subtle body directly goes up to higher regions (Mahalok onwards). Thus, the subtle body can continue towards Moksha without having to take rebirth on earth.
