Per Sri Durgadevi’s guidance, seekers are advised to do special repetition (chanting*) of The Lord’s Name as follows:

    Perform the collective repetition (chanting) of The Lord’s Name as told by Sri Durgadevi for three hours for the following days in the following manner. (Audio recordings of these chants can be downloaded from the Sanatan’s website - click here.)

    Those seekers who have been prescribed to complete five hours or more of repeating (chanting) of The Lord’s Name every day, should treat the above three hours of collective chanting as a part of their five hours total. The remaining two hours they should do their individual chanting. Those seekers who have been prescribed to complete two hours or less of repeating (chanting) of The Lord’s Name every day should only do the repetition (chanting) of The Lord’s Name as guided above by Sri Durgadevi.

    The following prayer should be said while doing the special repetition (chanting) of The Lord’s Name, “Let me (here state your name) get the power of the Mantrajap (special repetition as advised by Sri Durgadevi). Let the obstacles in the way of establishment of Divine Kingdom be removed and let my spiritual progress occur.” This prayer is to be said after 12 repetitions (chants) of The Lord’s Name with respect to ‘three after three’ (that is, 2 sets of the combined, 3+3 repetitions; e.g. for Gudhipadva) and after 10 repetition (chanting) of The Lord’s Name, with respect to ‘one after the other’ of a single deity’s chant.

Seekers who are responsible for overseeing collective spiritual practice in the Sanatan should prepare a plan for 100% of seekers to do the special repetition (chanting) of The Lord’s Name as advised by Sri Durga Devi

    With the aim that the special repetition (chanting) of The Lord’s Name as advised by Sri Durgadevi should be done by 100% of seekers, those seekers responsible for overseeing collective spiritual practice, should plan for these occasions of special repetition (chanting) of The Lord’s Name. Every seeker has to complete three hours of the special repetitions (chanting) as advised by Sri Durgadevi.

    Those seekers responsible for overseeing collective spiritual practice should make efforts to convince other seekers to the best of their ability, with the intense desire that 100% of seekers should complete the special repetition (chanting) as advised by Sri Durgadevi. It is expected to make efforts to achieve 100% results, not mere planning of seekers and their repetition (chanting) of The Lord’s Name. Hence, responsible seekers should make efforts towards this end.

Make a plan to achieve three hours target of the collective chanting
    The above Names, as advised by Sri Durgadevi, are to be repeated (chanted) collectively for three hours. While performing the collective chanting, it is common that we either speak to someone or get up for water, bathroom, etc. In this process, at least five minutes are wasted. Sri Durgadevi does not take into account this wasted time. Hence, even if the collective chanting falls short by five minutes, Sri Durgadevi does not consider it as done. Hence, seekers should collectively chant for extra time to make up for each of such breaks during the chanting session.

    Similarly, though we perform repetition (chanting) of The Lord’s Name for three hours as per the clock, there is no guarantee that the collective chanting will occur with spiritual emotion (bhav) for all the three hours. Hence, one should consider planning to do each collective chanting session for an additional 15 minutes. One need not sit for three hours at a stretch to do the collective chanting. The three hours of collective chanting can be completed during the course of the whole day.
On the above-mentioned days, seekers should give top priority to the special collective chanting, realizing that it is one’s spiritual practice to complete it

    Sri Durgadevi tells us to perform the special repetition (chanting) of The Lord’s Name every month or on some occasions/ religious festivals in keeping with the times, for us to gain more spiritual energy from repeating (chanting) The Lord’s Name for less time. It is not possible for all people at all times to increase their spiritual strength by doing repetition (chanting) of The Lord’s Name in keeping with the present times. Thus, Sri Durgadevi by telling us to do such special repetition (chanting) of The Lord’s Name is giving us the strength. We have to derive benefit of that strength just by doing collective chanting full of spiritual emotion for the particular days (on which such special repetition (chanting) of The Lord’s Name are prescribed) and for a particular period of time.

    Instead of us reaching Sri Durgadevi with intense devotion, Sri Durgadevi Herself is coming to us and helping us. This, of course, does not mean that we should always remain at this level. We, on our part, have to obey every word of Sri Durgadevi, and thus obtain her eternal grace and blessings, and reach Her. Noting this, seekers should realize that ‘I must positively complete my collective chanting on the above days and completing it is itself my spiritual practice’ and accord top priority to the special collective chanting. On those days, nothing else should be given priority over the collective chanting.

Special repetition (chanting) of The Lord’s Name must be done with spiritual emotion in order to obtain Eternal Grace and Blessings of deities

    Seekers are lacking the spiritual energy required in the present times. Hence, Sri Durgadevi is telling us to repeat (chant) The Lord’s Name like the above, thereby showing that Her Grace and Blessings on us. One should utilize one’s willful action (Kriyaman) to maximum possible extent to keep the Grace and Blessings of deities eternally active on oneself. Hence, the seekers should see to it that the repetition (chanting) of The Lord’s Name becomes full of spiritual emotion.

Maintain the following spiritual emotion to make the repetition (chanting) of The Lord’s Name replete with spiritual emotion

   At other times, we do not necessarily follow or obey everything that Sri Durgadevi tells us. In spite of this, Sri Durgadevi tells us to do the special collective chanting that consists of Her divine energy and blessings. Repetaing (chanting) God’s Name with the continual gratitude that ‘Sri Durgadevi has advised this repetition (chanting) of God’s Name for my welfare’ will help the repetition (chanting) of The Lord’s Name occur with spiritual emotion.

Pay attention to repeating (chanting) The Lord’s Name with spiritual emotion for both marak (destroyer aspect) and tarak (saviour aspect) when repeating the Name of the deity in the marak tune

   Benefits of having spiritual emotion towards both the marak and tarak when repeating (chanting) The Lord’s Name is as follows:

1. The benefit obtained by repeating (chanting) the deities’ Name in the marak tune, as explained by Sri Durgadevi, with only spiritual emotion towards the marak form of the deity is 70% beneficial, whereas with spiritual emotion towards both the tarak and marak forms of the deity it is 100% beneficial.

2. Spiritual emotion towards the tarak form is the spiritual emotion of surrender, and thus helps reduce ego.

The improvised method of marak repetition (chanting) of the Saptadevta’s Names

    Stress upon the bold and underlined letters in the Names of the Saptadevta (Seven Deities) given below to activate spiritual emotion towards the marak forms of the deities. The information about which words are to be repeated (chanted) with spiritual emotion of surrender, is given in the text following each Name. When repeating (chanting) the word with the spiritual emotion for the tarak form of the deity, one should do so with the spiritual emotion of complete surrender and say it slowly without giving stress upon it.

    [words to be repeated with spiritual emotion to the tarak aspect of the deity are italicized]

1. || Om Gan Ganapataye namaha ||

    Pause after the word ‘Ganapataye’ and then say ‘namaha’. While saying ‘namaha’ have spiritual emotion of complete surrender, that is, the spiritual emotion when paying obeisance (sashtang namaskar).

2. || Om Sri Rama Jai Rama Jai Jai Rama ||

    In this chant, have spiritual emotion to the tarak aspect of Sri Rama when saying first occurrence of ‘Jai Rama’ and second ‘Jai’ after first Jai Rama. Pause after the last ‘Jai’ and then say ‘Rama’.

3. || Om Hum Hanumate namaha ||

    In this Name, while saying ‘namaha’, have the spiritual emotion of complete surrender, that is, the same spiritual emotion one has when paying obeisance (sashtang namaskar). In this case, pause after saying ‘Hanumate’ and then say ‘namaha’.

4. || Om namaha Shivaya ||

    In this Name, while saying ‘namaha’, have the spiritual emotion of complete surrender, that is, the same spiritual emotion one has when paying obeisance (sashtang namaskar). In this case, pause after saying ‘namaha’ and then say ‘Shivaya’.

5. || Om Sri Durgadevyai namaha ||

    In this Name, while saying ‘namaha’, have the spiritual emotion of complete surrender, that is, the same spiritual emotion one has when paying obeisance (sashtang namaskar). In this case, pause after saying ‘Durgadevyaiya’ and then say ‘namaha’.

6. || Om Sri Gurudev Datta ||

    In this Name, while saying ‘Gurudev’, have the spiritual emotion of complete surrender. In this case, pause after saying ‘Gurudev’ and then say ‘Datta’.

7. || Om namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya ||

    In this Name, while saying ‘namo’, have the spiritual emotion of complete surrender. In this case, pause after saying ‘Bhagavate’, and then say ‘Vasudevaya’.

    Note: While recording the above Names, the pause between two repetitions of The Name, eg. ‘Om Sri Durgadevyaiy namaha’, or the time when should it begin the next repetition (chant) of The Name has been derived after doing a subtle analysis of how long each deity’s marak form is effective. By repeating (chanting) The Lord’s Name as above, it is helpful in sustaining the marak element of that deity in us. One can get the spiritual experiences (anubhutis) of deities’ manifest form (sagun form) when pronouncing the words of chants and of unmanifest form (nirgun form) due to thoughtless mind during the pause between two chants.

    The latest chanting tunes of the above chants are available here.

* Constant remembrance or repetition of The Lord's Name. Seekers in the initial stages of spiritual practice (less than one year) are advised to repeat The Name of the Lord as per their religion (refer to Issue 3, Clarification of Doubts section for details). Those seekers who have been doing regular spiritual practice for over one year are advised to determine The Name appropriate for them from the experiment given in Issue 124, Message to Seekers section.
