Completion of five hours of repeating (chanting*) The Lord’s Name and satseva, despite being on over-time duty

I am a doctor and work in a hospital. As a part of the job, we are often asked to take up over-time duty. One day, when I was posted for over-time duty, I came to the hospital and saw that there were only two small surgeries. For the first operation, the surgeon did not post me. The other surgery got canceled. I could complete my prescribed daily chanting (of 5 hours) as well as study and prepare for the satsang during that time. I had tears of gratitude to Sri Durgadevi and Vastudevata for this opportunity. All throughout that day repetition (chanting) of The Lord’s Name happened with spiritual emotion (bhav) and peace.

Hearing Vedic recitations, despite no such recitations being on in the vicinity

Today, while doing daily ritualistic worship (puja) and repetition (chanting*) of The Lord’s Name, I felt a lot of sattvikta in the house. While repeating ‘Om Gan Ganapataye namaha’, I felt as if the Vedas were being recited in the background. The recitations seemed similar to the recitation of the Vedas during sacred sacrificial fires (yadnyas). I felt a lot of spiritual emotion and could feel the divine consciousness (chaitanya) of The Lord while repeating (chanting) His Name.

- Mr. Anil Shet,

[As per the principle that an object’s odor, taste, form, feel and sound coexist with its specific energy, when repetition (chanting) of The Lord’s Name occurs with quality, it can give the experience of its associated subtle sound as above.
– Editor.]

* Constant remembrance or repetition of The Lord's Name. Seekers in the initial stages of spiritual practice (less than one year) are advised to repeat The Name of the Lord as per their religion (refer to Issue 3, Clarification of Doubts section for details). Those seekers who have been doing regular spiritual practice for over one year are advised to determine The Name appropriate for them from the experiment given in Issue 124, Message to Seekers section.
