Progressing spiritually by setting and achieving small goals

In Spirituality, it is important to know one’s spiritual level and make efforts to progress to the next level. We should always have the ultimate aim of God-realization or attainment of Bliss or final liberation. However, we also need to realize all these are intangible. In order to reach our aim we need to set and achieve small goals.

To this end, we need to make efforts to remove our personality defects and use all our talents to advance spiritually. If one is climbing a 100-story building, it is more important to know the ways to get to the top floor rather than just having the knowledge about which floor one is at. Similarly, it is extremely important to keep doing spiritual practice and keep doing the correct and appropriate type of spiritual practice to progress spiritually.

H.H. Dr. Jayant Athavale conducts weekly satsangs in the various Sanatan ashrams throughout India, which encompass several topics such as spiritual practice, Saints, Deities, the science of Spirituality, etc. This section of the Weekly Online gives some of the points He shared with seekers in some recent satsangs.
