Experience of meditation and increased motivation for spiritual practice during bhav satsang

During a recent bhav satsang, I felt as if I was meditating. I felt that all the points, seekers’ efforts and spiritual experiences about developing spiritual emotion were divinely inspired. Reading the efforts of other seekers made me feel so humble and motivated me to follow similar efforts to develop spiritual emotion in me.

– Mrs. Kalpana Sharma, Illinois, USA.
[Bhav satsangs are spiritual meetings, prepared and conducted based on the guidelines given by Sri Durgadevi Herself. They have Her resolve (sankalpa) to generate and increase spiritual emotion, which is crucial in rapid spiritual progress, in its regular attendees. Refer to the latest guidelines and center listing to join in a nearby bhav satsang or attend it remotely.]

Experiencing the presence of deities during chanting*

During the special chanting session of eight hours on December 15, 2003, as instructed by Sri Durgadevi, I subtly felt the presence of Sri Durgadevi while doing the additional three hours of repeating “Om Sri Durgadevyai namah” (click here to download the correct tune). I felt that Sri Durgadevi had assumed an enormous form and Her feet were as big as the room we were repeating (chanting*) The Lord’s Name in. While repeating “Om Gan Ganpataye namaha” and “Om namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya,” it felt like Lord Ganesh’s picture had come alive. I could feel His eyes and forehead shining. As the chanting session was drawing to an end, I could subtly feel Sri Durgadevi leaving us. When I requested Her to please stay back with us, She said that whenever I repeat (chant) The Lord’s Name with utmost devotion She would be with me.

– Mr. Vamsi Krishna,
The Sanatan’s satsang in Melbourne, Australia.
[As the saying goes, “Where there is spiritual emotion, there is God.” Thus, when one repeats (chants*) The Lord’s Name with spiritual emotion one experiences the presence of God or the divine Principle whom one is calling, as seen in the above experience.

* Constant remembrance or repetition of The Lord's Name. (Seekers at the initial stage should chant the Name of the Kuldevata or the divine principle as per their religion; refer to Issue 3, Clarification of Doubts section for a list of the Names of The Lord to repeat in various religions. Seekers in the advanced stage of spiritual practice can refer to Issue 124, Message to Seekers section to determine the Name appropriate for them to repeat.)
