Perfection and Bliss in preparing biscuits for H. H. Dr. Jayant Athavale when the satseva is done with spiritual emotion

A couple of months ago, my fellow seeker Mr. Sean Clarke was going on a spiritual trip to visit and learn in Sanatan’s ashrams in India. At the time he asked me to do the satseva of making biscuits for H. H. Dr. Jayant Athavale, as an offering from all Melbourne seekers. Ever since he asked me this, I was very excited, but also worried that I wouldn’t be good enough to prepare food for Gurudev H. H. Dr. Athavale. As I prepared everything to start the cooking, I was repeating (chanting*) The Lord’s Name intensely and the depth of the repetition (chanting) was wonderful. Everything occurred as though I was assisted and I felt that H. H. Dr. Athavale and Lord Krushna were watching, to make sure that there were no problems for me. When I took the biscuits from the oven it occurred to me to present two of them at the altar as Holy sacrament (prasad) and to pay gratitude to Gurudev for helping me make them and for giving me this opportunity. I have never prepared or offered prasad before at home (I was raised as a Christian), although at Sanatan’s ashram in Melbourne, I have seen it done.

I felt so much love and gratitude towards Gurudev and God for allowing me to be the one, who was able to do this satseva and was very aware of His presence, as I offered the prasad. Although I was alone during the whole preparation and packing of the biscuits did not feel that I was alone; it was as though all the Melbourne seekers were here with me.

It is hard to put into words the spiritual emotion I felt and what was learned from doing this satseva. I can only say it was one of the best and happiest days of my life, and am very grateful that I was given the opportunity to experience it.

– Ms. Therese Andrews, Melbourne satsang, Australia.
[When one makes an offering with intense love and devotion unto God, that is, with spiritual emotion, one is graced with Blissful experiences like the above. As the saying goes, where there is spiritual emotion there is God. Satseva done with such spiritual emotion is true satseva and brings about spiritual progress.

Spiritual emotion that H. H. Dr. Jayant Athavale is giving strength to face our Destiny

In the past couple of months due to my wife’s surgery and other complications I was feeling very tensed. In addition to that, my office workload has increased tremendously. Additionally, my parents, who are in opposition to our spiritual practice, are visiting. All this added up to reduce my repetition (chanting*) of The Lord’s Name and prayer. I was continuously engaged in facing these obstacles. A few days back my wife Sampada talked to Sanatan’s seeker in Goa, India, Mrs. Mangala Marathe and got very valuable guidance. From that, we once again realized the importance of repeating (chanting) The Lord’s Name and determined to increase our efforts, come what may. Ever since, surprisingly my repetition (chanting) has started automatically and has definitely increased in quantity. Yesterday I had a realization that Gurudev H. H. Dr. Athavale Himself is giving us strength to face the obstacles brought about by our Destiny and He alone is working in our lives to make us strong to bear it.

[When there is sincere desire to do spiritual practice, the Guru principle comes to the seeker’s aid to face the obstacles in spiritual practice and to bring about his spiritual progress.

* Constant remembrance or repetition of The Lord's Name (Seekers at the initial stage should chant the Name of the Kuldevata or the divine principle as per their religion; refer to Issue 3, Clarification of Doubts section for a list of the Names of The Lord to repeat in various religions. Seekers in the advanced stage of spiritual practice can refer to Issue 124, Message to Seekers section to determine the Name appropriate for them to repeat.)
