Clarification of Doubts
Developing Kshatravrutti
Question: What is Kshatravrutti? How do we develop it?
– Mrs. Kalpana Sharma, Illinois, USA.

Dear Mrs. Sharma,

Kshatravrutti means the attitude of a warrior. This means aggressively battling the obstacles to our spiritual practice at all levels: physical, psychological and spiritual. The importance of kshtravrutti is given below.

Obstacles due to distressing energies are increasing in current times. Overcoming distressing energies occurs more readily when one has Kshatravrutti.
God has two aspects, savior (tarak) and destroyer (marak). To merge with God, a seeker must develop both qualities. Developing the attitude of Kshatravrutti helps develop marak qualities in a seeker.
Kshatravrutti has two prominent qualities – alertness and promptness. One should be alert at all times regarding the troubles from distressing energy and also be prompt to take measures such as prayers, increased repetition (chanting*) of The Lord’s Name and other measures at once to combat the attack.

How does one develop Kshatravrutti?

Repeating (chanting) the Lord’s Name in the marak (destroyer of evil aspect of God) tune. Download the tunes for deities’ marak forms here.
When repeating (chanting) The Lord’s Name, visualize the weapons of the deity Whose Name one is repeating. Imagine those weapons being used against the obstacles to spiritual practice.
When repeating (chanting) The Lord’s Name alone, sit in an erect posture with tight fists.** When chanting while doing one’s daily activities, one can imagine oneself in this position.
When an obstacle occurs, make prayers that it will be overcome.
Face obstacles with determination and the attitude that they will definitely be overcome.
One can focus on developing the quality of alertness and promptness in our day-to-day activities. For example, when cooking one can be alert to see that the food is being prepared properly and also be prompt by doing the correct steps in the process at the appropriate time.

* Constant remembrance or repetition of The Lord’s Name. (Refer to Issue 124, Message to Seekers section to determine the Name that is appropriate for you to chant.)

** Refer to Issue 206, Messages to Seekers section for more information on effectively repeating (chanting) The Lord’s Name in the marak form.
