Chant* for two minutes before doing this experiment.
Then perform an activity, say sending an e-mail, cooking, driving,
reading, etc., while with some pop music in the background for about
5 minutes. Then, perform the same activity with some spiritual music/devotional
songs in the background for 5 minutes.
Note your perception (such as
concentration in the activity, peace or joy in it, quality or quantity
of chanting, etc.) in each case. The details of how to assess one's
subtle perception
of an object can be seen by clicking on this section's heading.
* Repeat The Lord's Name as per your religion.

Answer to the last week's experiment (Issue 171):
In Figure A, one has more ego.
Ego is not desirable in Spirituality, because it prevents one from
forgetting the self to realize God or his real Self. In Figure B,
since one is grateful to God and realizes that God is the doer, ego
is less, allowing more God principle to manifest. The God principle
being Blissful in
nature, one feels Blissful or pleasant looking at Figure B. Thus,
one should try to perform every activity with the attitude of surrender
and gratitude that God is the doer, to ensure Bliss in the activity.
One can do so by praying, paying gratitude and chanting sincerely
before and during each activity. |
