Implied Meaning:
"Happiness is your nature. It is not wrong
to desire it," refers to Bliss (Anand) - the fundamental
driving force in every living being. This is because every living
being has a soul (divinity within), which is a component of the Blissful
God principle. Since, everyone's inherent nature is Bliss; it is natural
for all to seek it.
"What is wrong is seeking it outside
when it is inside," means we can find Bliss only if we
look for it within, that is, when we do spiritual
practice or make efforts to realize our divine nature or soul
principle. This is because for one to derive lasting Bliss the source
too, should be everlastingly Blissful - the soul or God is the only
such source. However, we often tend to make the mistake of looking
for Bliss in gross
objects or external things like relationships, career, wealth, etc.,
which are temporary by nature. If we invest ourselves in something
that is temporary and subject to change and which is not Blissful
in nature then we get only temporary short-term happiness and not
spiritual Bliss.
