Importance of love (priti)

Subhadra was Lord Krushna's younger sister. Although Lord Krushna loved her, Draupadi, who was His step sister, was His favorite. One day, Subhadra asked Lord Krushna, "I am your real sister while Draupadi is your step sister, then why do you love her more than me?" Lord Krushna smiled and said, "You will soon know the answer."

A few days later, Lord Krushna cut His finger and it started bleeding. He rushed to Subhadra and asked her to wrap a piece of cloth around His finger to stop the bleeding. Subhadra rushed to her wardrobe and started looking for an inexpensive garment to tear for bandaging the wound. Meanwhile, Draupadi happened to visit Subhadra. When she saw Lord Krushna's bleeding finger, she instantly tore off a piece of the expensive silk garment that she was wearing and wrapped it around His finger. Soon the bleeding stopped.

Upon witnessing the behavior of Draupadi, who sacrificed her rich garment without blinking, Subhadra realized what pure love and devotion is. She felt ashamed that she loved her rich clothes more than The Lord and had received the answer to her question.

Moral: One should learn to love God just the way Draupadi did. Spiritual practice is a sure way to develop such love.

Spiritual experience of a child seeker
Gurupaurnima celebration

Young children behaving respectfully during Gurupaurnima ritualistic worship (puja)
This year, the Sanatan's seekers in various parts of the US came together at the Mount Laurel, NJ center to prepare for and celebrate Gurupaurnima. Seekers Mrs. Suhasini Kale and Mrs. Bhavna Shinde were visiting from Stamford and Atlanta, respectively. Mrs. Kale had come with her 4-year-old daughter, Maitreyi and Mrs. Shinde with her 3-year-old son, Afolabi. For the few days before Gurupaurnima, the children were constantly quarreling and making a lot of noise. However, several times on Gurupaurnima day, they told the other seekers that it was God's day. Further, through out the 4-hour Gurupaurnima celebration program, the children were quietly playing with each other. During the ritualistic worship (puja) of the Guru, the children on their own chose to attend some of the puja and were behaving respectfully, and quietly listened to the bhajan (devotional song) singing.

[Children generally have a keen sense of subtle perception. Due to this, they can perceive the increase in energy and presence of the Guru principle on Gurupaurnima day and display sattvik behavior, as seen in the above spiritual experience.
