Destruction of the ego


    "The ego is a very powerful elephant and cannot be brought under control by anyone less than a lion, who is none other than the Guru in this instance; Whose very look makes the elephant tremble and die."


Explanation:  
    'The ego is a very powerful elephant' means that one's ego or sense of doership, being very subtle, cannot be destroyed by one's efforts.
     'Lion' refers to the Guru. Only the grace of a Guru can destroy one's ego.
    Hence, the seeker should strive to attain a Guru's grace by doing spiritual practice as per His guidance.
