Realizing the importance of obedience
I had a desire to be in the satsang of my spiritual guide, Mrs. Shilpa Kudtarkar, by visiting her residence in New Jersey. Accordingly, I started looking for an affordable airline ticket. However, I missed some good prices on the tickets and as the Christmas season (high season for air travel) was approaching, Mrs. Kudtarkar advised me to wait for a good price. After that, for a few weeks, ticket prices were high, so I stopped thinking about it and focused on my spiritual practice.
Suddenly one day, my husband urged me to look for airline tickets, as he was to travel overseas. When I did so, I not only found a good ticket price immediately, but was also able to spend more than a week with Mrs. Kudtarkar. I realized that if I had got a good price when I had first searched for it, I could have spent only 4-5 days with her.
The perfect timing of this episode amazed me. I was also grateful to get the opportunity to practice obedience to my guide.

[Obedience to one's spiritual guides or evolved seekers leads to divine assistance in one's spiritual practice, as seen in the above spiritual experience, besides resulting in rapid spiritual progress.
As we have a very restricted vision limited to our five senses, mind and intellect and the present and immediate past, many a times our desires and decisions are in conflict with our best interests whereas what God decides is in our ultimate interests. Unfortunately, despite having experienced this time and again due to lack of study we do not recognize the fact that God's will is the best. Being able to surrender to God's will, not due to helplessness but while actually experiencing its absolute correctness is a sign of spiritual progress.

Ability to accept rejection for employment as God's wish
I had just finished my schooling and had applied to various firms for a job. One day, I received a call confirming my employment at a certain firm, but soon learned that it was a miscommunication. Even so, I was not disappointed and had faith in God. I felt that He had better plans for me. And truly so, within a few days, I was offered a promotion at my current workplace. I was reminded of the story from the Holy Bible, which says that God takes away everything to test one's faith and showers in plenty when one passes the test.
